Makanda is one of the most spectacular locations I've ever been to. Every day we saw monkeys, iguanas, sloths, etc just roaming around the property. Great service. The bartender Eli is particularly wonderful, and the saltwater pool is perfect.

I really liked the accomodations. The room was spacious and the finishes were spectacular, with an incredible view. In my opinion, ideal for a moment of relaxation. Access to the beach through the hotel is not recommended when it rains. The hotel staff was very helpful and courteous. There are plenty of activities in Manuel Antonio, and the hotel's location is very good if you are looking to go outside.

I will try my best to use this review to explain how amazing our trip to Makanda was. First of all Makanda held our deposit for 4 years! We had to cancel due to COVID and birth of children from 2020-2024. How amazing is that!? They let us book our rooms and then gave us a credit for the remaining balance that we were able to use on site. When we arrived to Makanda after the trip from San Jose, we were ready to relax. The office staff were so welcoming. We immediately felt cared for and felt appreciated for staying at Makanda. We were ushered to our room by golf cart, where the staff (Sam) brought our luggage up for us. We stayed in the WOW loft. It was most likely at the highest point in Makanda and I tried my best to not say WOW when we walked in the room. But the view was breathtaking! Huge sliding glass doors and windows that opened up to a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean invited the word WOW to spill out of my mouth over and over again. The architecture of Makanda blends so seamlessly into the landscape of the rainforest, that as our friend (Elias) said the animals seem to appreciate and love that it is there. We were constantly viewing Capuchin and Squirrel (Titi) monkeys from our bed as they played on the railing and jumped through the trees. We actually felt as though we had a better interaction with the wildlife at Makanda than when we went on our tour of Manuel Antonio National Park! We saw Capuchin, Squirrel, and Howler monkeys while at Makanda. As well as an incredibly active sloth, who was so close to us and one out by the beach. We also saw a toucan, numerous Macaws, smaller toucans and many parrots. I will try to make the rest of this review succinct. The staff were amazingly inviting, friendly, kind, gracious, loving, amazing. I cannot say enough about the staff who became friends of ours as soon as we arrived. We left the hotel grounds once and decided we did not want to leave again during our four night stay because it was so relaxing and exactly what we wanted. We had access to a secluded beach, so beautiful, romantic, fun. Anything you would want it to be! Bottom line, Makanda offers a constant beauty. Whether it is the deeply intricate details of the design of the hotel, the nature that spectacularly surrounds you, the staff that so kindly loves you, or the food that tastefully comforts you, you will enjoy your trip to Costa Rica to its full potential because of your stay at Makanda.

The most amazing resort! Secluded & breathtakingly beautiful! We went for our 10th wedding anniversary & it was perfect in every way! The food & drinks were amazing. The staff were wonderful. Loved seeing all of the wildlife including the monkeys & birds.

Absolutely stunning views. Amazing service. Great service and excellent luxurious decoration. The beach is amazing. Delicious food. This Hotel will make you feel like no other place with a special connection with nature. Lots of fun watching monkeys playing around. Drinks is a must try. This Hotel is just simply a breathtaking experience.
