InterContinental Marseille - Hotel Dieu

I would rate my stay a five, but the subsequent service has been awful. We were overcharged on our bill because dinner was charged twice. After a very early morning conversation with an employee who insisted the bill was correct, he proceeded to process the final payment. After becoming more alert with breakfast and some coffee, I returned to the front desk and met with Diane, who assured me we would get a credit. For some reason, she explained that they could not process the credit until the next day. Okay, fine. We left the hotel and I reviewed my bill daily. No credit. I emailed the hotel and was told that the credit was processed and I’d see it in a few days. It has now been 11 days and we have not received the refund of 206 Euros. I have disputed the charges to American Express. In the meantime, the man who promised the refund has not returned my email. This is a lovely and comfortable property. I simple warn that you must scrutinize your bill before your final payment.

The highlight of hotels are prime location near the old port, cafe and restaurants. In addition , the food and dinner at Brasserie Les Fenêtres are excellent. Most of staffs are attentive except some at reception area. However, the style of the room is pretty standard. Comparing with other IHG, this may not the same level as others.

The hotel accommodations were exquisite! The location could not have been better! The service was top notch! One of the managers -Léna-Rose was thoughtful, professional, caring, and friendly! She made my wife and feel like we weee home! The lady who checked us in for breakfast daily was always classy and professional! A waiter named Arthur Scemama always went above and beyond to assure we had what we needed in a timely, professional, and kindly manner! He was articulate and displayed leadership!

Great location near the Panier district and the pier. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Very nice and spacious room with amazing view. Beautiful bathroom. Great terrace where to relax, have a drink. Beautiful bar and very professional and friendly service. Great spa and indoor pool.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Whilst the building that house the hotel is unquestionably beautiful and the location is great I was distinctly unimpressed by the hotel itself, especially given how expensive it is (even mid-week). I found the public spaces in the hotel quite sterile and uninviting and didn’t particularly appeal to me to spend any more time in them than strictly necessary (this is just my personal taste) My arrival was totally chaotic as the front of the hotel was being re-paved and they seem to have put no contingency plans in place to greet arriving guests. Whilst the room was nice (especially the bathroom) and was extremely clean, I found the staff quite indifferent (on my second day they didn’t replace the water in the room and I called twice to order some – none arrived so I just gave up and went to the nearest supermarket) The spa (which is actually managed by a different company) is very disappointing – the pool is small and cramped and looks to have been put together on a tight budget with cheap looking furniture around it. You can only book one hour slots at the pool and they say they allow up to 25 people at one time but it looks full when even 6 people are in it and there is only seating for about 10 people so I’m not sure how much thought they have actually put into this- worst of all, despite my expensive room, I was told if I wanted to use the sauna or steam room I would need to pay more – which in 30 years of staying in hotels around the world, I have never seen. Overall, I was very underwhelmed by this hotel and the experience felt like an “average 4 star” than the “5 star” they claim to be .
