W Melbourne with its rebellious Flinders Lane address takes its design cues from the streets of Australia's cultural capital, holding the back-lane entrance keys to what's new/next in the city CBD. Revealing a playground where the early risers to the late-night revellers can turn up the tracks. Extending the laneway culture in, 294 bold hotel rooms and suites peel back the layers and revel in the city's history.

I booked this hotel through the Chase Sapphire Card’s Edit program. Room benefits are similar to that of the AMEX plantinum travel program. We had a very spacious corner unit with large windows on both sides, plenty of light, and lots of room for two people. The bathroom is very spacious with a separate toilet room with its own sink and a Toto toilet. The primary bathroom area had a very spacious shower, a bathtub and two sink vanity. All toiletries as expected. The breakfast buffet was included in our rate. It was beyond ample with plenty of offerings for any type of diet. We ate at the same spot for dinner one night and received excellent service with a very good menu. Lollo is the name of the restaurant. Very good. The service at this property is exceptional on all levels. I highly recommend, especially if you’re planning to go to the AO in January. They do offer a free shuttle but the walk along the river to the venue is only about 30 minutes and quite easy.

We booked a two-night stay (December 23–24) using Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and applied my Titanium status. From arrival, the experience set a high bar. We were upgraded to a corner suite for the first night, and Kevin at the front desk went above and beyond to secure the same upgrade for the second night so we could remain in the same room for the duration of our stay. That level of proactive service and loyalty recognition made a meaningful difference—thank you, Kevin. Location The location is outstanding. The hotel is highly walkable to the CBD and sits right on the riverbank, which made exploring both sides of the Yarra effortless. Between walking and the nearby trams, we rarely needed anything else. Gym & WET Area The gym is well executed, with a full suite of Technogym cardio and weight equipment. It shares a floor with the WET pool area, which includes a bar and transitions to adults-only in the evening. While we didn’t experience it as a nightlife venue, it looked inviting. There’s also a co-ed steam room near the change rooms that we didn’t get a chance to try. Room (Corner Suite) Our upgraded suite occupied the entire end of the floor and was impressively spacious. The layout included a large living area, a separate bar and kitchen zone, a half bath, and a dividing door for privacy between the living and sleeping spaces. The bedroom was equally generous, with a massive bathroom and soaking tub, ample storage, and excellent sound and light control. Full blackout and privacy curtains, lighting, and climate controls were all electronic and independently managed between the bedroom and living room—very tech-forward and perfectly aligned with the W brand aesthetic. Breakfast & Dining Breakfast was included and served at Lollo. While the restaurant was extremely busy both mornings and the environment felt chaotic, seating was handled efficiently. Guests can order one à la carte item (e.g., avocado toast or eggs Benedict), alongside a broad buffet with enough variety to satisfy most preferences. On Tuesday night, Lollo also offered a steak special—around AUD 120 for two steaks and fries—which was excellent and great value for the quality. Bars We also visited Curious, the speakeasy just off the lobby in the basement. The design is very cool, and the drinks are creative and interactive. It’s a must-try while on property. Overall We loved our stay at W Melbourne. The upgrade recognition, thoughtful service, and prime location made this a standout visit. We only wish we had stayed longer and will absolutely return on our next trip to Melbourne!

We have had the absolute run around from the staff at this hotel, a booking was created in our name by the computer system and the staff took three days and left me to call various third party booking sites over hours and hours to work out it was their stuff up. Then they couldn’t care less about wasting our time for their stuff up. Awful service

I spent 3 nights here as a break from home duties. To shop see a show and eat and relax. The bed and bathroom are a good size. The room was quiet i never heard a door slamming. My room on the 8th floor was dark with a building opposite but I didn't care as I was only sleeping in the room. The wardrobe is a good size..better than The Reverie and many other 5 star hotels..the food selection is good. There is one major problem in this area. Its buffet breakfast included or nothing.. they need to address this immediately. All I wanted was my two expresso coffees maybe a bit of fruit and a slice or toast. You can't order anything a la carte. That's just silly. I don't want an all you can eat $58 buffet..one girl took pity on me and she got me a small plate of kiwi fruit..I commend her for her observation and initiative. This made my view of the service soar to a new level. After all the wastage at a buffet half eaten plates, what's the big deal if they offer me a kiwi fruit in my room rate that didn't include breakfast. Offer guests that want this some choice W. The pool area is nice for an indoor pool and was heated to a warm enough heat that ppl could actually swim. Bravo! The light lunch is had there was good. The underground bar served a killer cocktail. It had a very good atmosphere. I had stayed at the W in Bali and hated it as the electronic lights and switches were impossible and every had a purple tinge to it even the pool. This hotel had intuitive controls for everything and I had no problem. It is a much better location then the very expensive Ritz and it is less than half the cost. Stay here.

I booked as part of Chase's The Edit program. Check-in was smooth and the agent explained the benefits I got with my reservation. The room was functional, clean, and comfortable. I left some feedback as part of a survey prompted after logging into the wifi, and shortly after I received a call to help address some of my (minor) points of feedback. I liked the location. A short walk / tram ride from Southern Cross station if you're taking the bus from the airport. I was able to walk to an event at Marvel Stadium. There's trams on the same block, which made getting around the CBD and to Fitzroy very convenient. I did enjoy the breakfast, but I will say the pastries were not very good, which was a disappointment. There was a good variety and included barista made coffee.
