Excellent hotel, amazing experience, great food, walkable to Milan Duomo, had an amazing time strolling the Piazza Duomo and the Galleria Vittoria Emmanuele every single day during our stay.

Park Hyatt Milan is in the best location within Milan, steps away from the Galleria and Duomo. The hotel itself was top notch, the rooms were fantastic and bathroom was the highlight; we would definitely stay here again in the future.

Trip Advisor needs a rating between Good and Excellent. This place would be in that zone. I think this hotel's rating depends on the room you have. I had a terrace suite on the 6th floor #608 and was expecting it to be great considering that I was paying a significant amount for it; it wasn't. My kids were across the hall; there are very few connecting rooms and I don't think there are 2 bedroom suites available in this hotel. I was offered an upgrade at a very decent price to the presidential suite but that was huge and overkill and its terrace didn't have a Duomo view which i really wanted. It was also far down the hall from my kids but at least that suite was spacious and bright. My suite was sort of like a railroad car in a narrow space and it felt dark and narrow, and I couldn't even find space to roll out my back on the floor even though I was in one of their top suites. I never sat in the living room which was just a couch and a table with very little space around it. The terrace was small and saw just some spires of the Duomo. What really peeved me was the lighting system. I called in someone to explain things to me and even after 24 hours I couldn't figure out how to work the lights. Every time someone threw off the master switch in the front of the suite, all the bathroom lights went off driving whoever was inside insane, and it was all or nothing in the bathroom. There were no lights in the toilet and no night lights. At bedside, you had a left side and right side of the same button that did different things. It was absolutely awful considering it's a 5 star hotel that should know better, and the hotel has been around now for over a decade; i stayed here ten years ago and liked it better then. They should just throw out the entire room electronic control system and start over. It was the worst I've ever seen. The gym was below ground and dark and pretty small but it was adequate. The spa area had a decent steam room and a jacuzzi (but no pool) and some nice treats. The highlight of this hotel is breakfast; it's outstanding with all sorts of good bakery and various items. Dinner here at the restaurant was also rather good but the gelato at dessert was not very good and hey, we're in Milano where it should have been magnificent. The best argument in favor of this property is the location just off the Galleria right around the corner from the Duomo. You can walk roughly 5 minutes to La Scala and about 10 minutes to Via Monte Napolean. I don't know that the Four Seasons would be in as good a location, but I'd be interested if the hotel was brighter and had larger rooms that were more intuitive. One thing that bothered me was that the valet or security staff out front hardly spoke English. I asked 3 people out front if they knew if the Olympics were going to be in Milan next year and none of them understood me. The concierge gave my kids lousy dinner recommendations (to very touristy restaurants) and my wife lousy sightseeing recommendations. We felt we were being treated like dumb Americans. Of course, the service is high here and friendly but there are definite things they can improve. When we checked in, there was a fruit plate in the room with a large mango. I brought it downstairs and asked if they would refrigerate it overnight and serve it at breakfast. A staff meeting ensued while they discussed with the chef if they would do that. They did, but at great hotels, there is no discussion. I've stayed at the Park Hyatt in Zurich and Vienna the past year and liked them much more than this one. Maybe I chose the wrong room, but I felt that I overpaid for what I got (figure about 3,500 Euros a night for the suite), and I really didn't enjoy the functionality of my room. This place impressed me on the service side much more during my last visit 10 years ago and I had a great room during that stay, a junior suite with a Duomo-facing terrace. My earlier review was much more positive. I don't know if I was just unlucky or if there are areas the hotel needs to improve.
