Reviews for Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo

Underwhelming & Terrible service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We arrived at 2.45 and check-in was 3pm. This was a trip with my 96 year old mother and my daughter. We were kept waiting and were taken to the room at 3.30. We requested interconnecting rooms especially my mother being so elderly this did not happen. In our room NO welcome note or fruit or a bottle! Rather strange as this is a 5 star hotel …. The rooms have coffee machine with no fresh milk and paper cups for coffee this is poor for a 5 star hotel. The beds were made very late in the day too. When I checked out I was asked if I had a pleasant stay and informed the receptionist all the above and was promised an email from the general manager! Which I’ve not heard from??? Again this is terrible service and personally would not recommend this hotel or would I return.

Everlasting elegance

Its like home away from home, always was always will be 😊 From stepping in at the entrance to be greeted and escorted by Quentin to our suite we couldn’t be more happy for such a smooth and welcoming check in. Bellboys were so kind and welcoming and as always make us feel like home. Their smiles do make a difference! Quentin is more than a guest services representative, he is more of an ambassador that does everything and more to make us return to HH. He was incredible in assisting us with any minor or major requests and did all with positive and “can do” attitude. It is so rare to find nowadays this engaging and professional individuals. Concierge all the team were great for pre check in and during our stay requests. Breakfast staff were superb, Laurent is our all time favorite waiter as well as Fuad and Nasser. Best in class service as well great food variety! Limun Bar employees as well as ex Crystal Bar employees are great, professional, kind and assistive. Housekeeping were all wonderful and did great job! On a downside note we would love to see some major renovation at HH with some very outdated Interior that nowadays is truly visible, and we hope future will bring some great new upgrade to in room facilities. See you all very soon!

Look no further than Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo in historic Monaco, where high glamour meets high medieval history splayed across the towering cliffsides of the Côte d'Azur. Reflective of its environment, Hôtel Hermitage's ornate interior corridors, polished marble, and high-ceiling-ed rooms feel like a posh residence, preserved from the Victorian era of ball gowns and tuxedos. As you stroll through its intimate lobby and cafe, the hotel's staff of all rank pause their tasking to greet you with a kind smile and friendly word, and most offer assistance or ask how you're enjoying your stay in Monaco. Our room's sprawling terrace overlooks the bay, and in the near distance, builders prepare the grandstand structures for Monaco's famed F1 race circuit (yes, you can see a good portion of the track from room 203). Thanks to two sets of massive double-pane french-doors however, the city's noise and seagulls remain outside. We occasionally order in-room dining, which takes about 25 minutes to arrive, and each course is delicious (not overly-seasoned or salty); fresh, well-portioned, and the french-fries are hot and crispy! From the hotel, guests can walk across the street to peruse Dior, Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton, and other higher-end shops. Stroll for 90 seconds north-eastward to the other end of the shopping square to arrive at the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo, where the movie-going public was first introduced to Bond- James Bond. If you're headed to Monte-Carlo and want to wrap yourself in its historic glamor, do consider a stay at Hôtel Hermitage. ~~ Pro Tips: Bring sturdy walking shoes and comfortable clothes if you plan to walk around this hilly city. Bring your passport with you as you shop since most stores and casinos must scan your travel documents for their tax and business records. Finally, the hotel's helpful concierge can give you a city map - ask them to mark the PUBLIC ELEVATORS, and you'll move through Monte-Carlo like a Monégasque.

The best experience! Stunning hotel and exceptional service! Not sure it can get better than this!

Sublime!!! What an incredible hotel. The staff and service was the best i have encountered, just exemplary. We had 3 days booked and after day one we extended by another 3 days. We did not want to leave. The room was beautiful with a stunning terrace and amazing views. The breakfast in the room was incredible... the table was beautifully dressed and carried onto the terrace for us by the staff. I have not relaxed so much in years. Absolutely beautiful, stunning hotel and i can't wait to go back! Cannot recommend highly enough. Absolutely loved my stay!

Good but disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 months ago

I am rating the hotel Hermitage based on location, room, facilities and staff. Location: the location of the hotel is beautiful and very close to the shopping area and Casino, which we love (not as close as hotel due Paris though) Room: while the room seems luxurious at first, it was a bit disappointing. First, the photo during booking showed an amazing terrace. Sadly we did not even have a balcony. I hope that they would include photos of the actual rooms and not the best rooms that they have, which are usually given to certain clients (I will mention the special treatment we noticed that some guests got later). The room needs an update / maintenance as the curtains did not operate with ease and always allowed light in the morning. Also, you would expect actual porcelain cups for the in-room coffee machine but they only had paper cups. I am guessing this is to speed up the cleaning of the rooms but this hotel takes pride in being the second most luxurious hotel in Monaco. The room was located in the far / old section of the hotel where we had to take an elevator and climb a stair to get to the lobby, which was a bit of an inconvenience with my sore ankle. Finally, and I know this is not big (but it does affect the brand) the slippers seemed really cheap and looked like something you would get at a 3 or 4 star hotel. Facilities: we only used the pool and it is beautiful and warm. Unfortunately due to the location of our room, we had to walk through almost the entire hotel and through the lobby restaurant to access it. Staff: overall, the staff were extremely nice and helpful. We did notice some special treatment to some guests when it comes to table reservation at the lobby restaurant (Limun) where the best tables are reserved (we were never told that we can reserve tables when we checked in) and we were always seated in the back area. We stood for a long time to check-in because the family in front of us were talking to 3 staff at the same to give them their keys. The bellmen were amazing. The breakfast staff were very tentative though the tended to clear tables quickly without waiting to see if we were coming back or not. Upon our departure, I asked for a new My Monte Carlo card and one of the staff at the reception printed the “Member” level card without checking my status, which is sliver; this was promptly corrected by another helpful member of the staff. I know this is not major but it did add to the overall experience. The concierge staff are amazing and really held the brand of the hotel in high regards. Now the big question, would we stay here again?? Sadly no as we previously had a phenomenal experience at the hotel de Paris and we will probably go back there on our next visit due to the service and luxurious rooms. I hope the Management at Hotel Hermitage take our comments in consideration for the sake of other guests.
