Fabulous stay - just a disappointment re the Lagoon

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We visited last year as part of our honeymoon and enjoyed so much that we had to return this year for our anniversary. The hotel, facilities and staff are simply incredible. We have absolutely no complaints here, everything is immaculate. Our one disappointment this year was that the lagoon was not open (it was when we visited last year - a couple of days earlier than this trip). We had been looking forward to spending an afternoon there, and the other pool area, whilst still stunning, was very busy and simply did not offer the expected experience. Whilst we will check the opening times prior to booking another stay, I was disturbed to see from the website that there now seems to be an entrance fee per person, even for hotel guests, which is rather off putting.

Seriously overpriced, but very enjoyable

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Seriously overpriced inside and out, but it's typical to Monaco experience, so I guess it's a given. Stunning interiors, though, immaculately clean, spacious. Especially enjoyed huge balcony with comfortable outdoor furniture and great sea view. About 5-7 min walk to the nearest beach, but also has an amazing outdoor pool area with multiple interconnected pools, bridges, walks, etc. The pool even had white sand at the bottom, so overall a really great experience. Breakfast was very good, great selection of healthy and traditional options, amazing bakery and pastries choices. Both self parking and valet parking available.

Very good stay. Will definitely come back.

My recent stay at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort was, once again, an absolute pleasure. This luxurious destination has certainly maintained its charm and continues to impress in many ways. The resort is still in very good shape, and the attention to detail in maintaining its elegance is evident throughout. The rooms, lobby, and pools are as beautiful as ever, and it's clear that the property is not showing its age. The service at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort remains exceptional. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience, and it's always a pleasure to be in such capable hands. However, during this visit, I did notice a few changes that seemed to reflect some cost-saving measures. For instance, the delightful "Monte Carlo Bay" biscuits were no longer a room amenity. It was a small but charming touch that was missed. The main pool, which used to have extended hours, now opens at a later time and closes earlier. While it's understandable to have specific pool hours, it was a change from what I was used to during previous stays. Another change was the relocation of breakfast and brunch to a new room where the casino used to be. Although the quality of the food was still very good, the room itself and the view were not as impressive as the former location in the Blu Bay restaurant which overlooks the sea. The view, on the outside building, faces a wall, which was a bit disappointing. Inside, it is beautifully decorated but the layout does not feel 4/5*. It is just way too busy inside. It's important to note that these comments are a reflection solely on the breakfast experience and have nothing to do with the exceptional quality of the 2-Michelin-starred Blu Bay restaurant currently being refreshed . In conclusion, our stay at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort was, as always, a memorable one. It remains a beautiful and well-maintained hotel, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway. While there were some minor changes, they did not overshadow the overall positive experience, and we look forward to returning for our annual visit.

Mediocre at Best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

We arrived at the hotel around 10:30 am, after booking transport from the airport via the hotel. On arrival we were told we can not use any of the hotel facilities until mid afternoon. The concierge missed out this detail when we booked the transfer. We were advised to go elsewhere and pay for a nearby beach club. I have never stayed at a hotel where this is the case. It was clear people had checked out the hotel from the previous night so i am unsure the logic behind not being able to use the pool facilities. I even walked round and saw multiple empty spaces. The attention the hotel has to cost cutting is noticeable. For example 2 towels per room per day, no complimentary water at night no dress down service. The food and drink were expensive as expected, but the quality was average at best. Although the majority of our stay was poor, the bar of the hotel is good and I would definitely visiting on the way to a nearby restaurant. I am still shocked that this hotel was even 4 stars.

Beautiful!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

We stayed here one night in September before we started a Mediterranean cruise. The hotel is expensive but beautiful! Our room was very nice with views of the Mediterranean. We could easily walk 10-15 minutes to the marina and look at all the expansive yachts. We had a casual dinner at the hotel, which was nice. And our breakfast was included and was fantastic! Lots of choices and a bountiful buffet. A lovely place with a nice pool area.
