A beacon of refinement in a storied European city, The Charles Hotel Munich is a taste of upscale luxury in Munich. Established in 2007 and built by architect Christian Sattler on the site of a former university library, this tasteful hotel is part of the new Lenbach Gardens. The walls within display a large collection of original paintings by the celebrated Franz von Lenbach, a 19th-century German artist, blended dynamically with modern elements and Art Deco-inspired shapes. Individual character and charm grace each of The Charles Hotel's 160 rooms and suites, many of which offer views of the city or surrounding gardens. Among the most spacious in the city, the guest abodes here are outfitted with top-of-the-line features like Bavarian limestone finishes, towering picture windows, French balconies, flat-screen televisions, and wireless internet access. A further welcome in the midst of a lively city, The Charles SPA offers an indoor pool, heated mosaic lounge chairs, a Finnish sauna and aromatherapy steam bath, and a fully equipped TechnoGym fitness center - not to mention the menu of invigorating and relaxing treatments. Start with a Surrender Massage and then try the Detox Body Ritual to refresh and renew like never before. This is your time, at The Charles Hotel.

We had a lovely stay here Friday night. Very beautiful hotel, friendly helpful staff & nicely furnished room. The spa was great, good size pool, lovely soft dressing gowns & great massage. We felt really relaxed after a busy week working in Munich. We ate in the hotel restaurant as it was cold out that night & we didn’t know where we wanted to go & we’re so pleased we did! Everything about the restaurant Florio was just perfect, front of house, the interior design, lighting & especially the food & very importantly our lovely waitress Giulia. Giulia was the cherry on top of a perfect evening at Floria. She was friendly, funny, attentive but not over the top, just perfect. Thank you to Giulia and the team we had a really wonderful evening & stay at this hotel.

Nice hotel, location, space staff and restaurants, but I got a room on a 5th floor where I could not sleep due to a noise (high frequency) out of the pumps or ventilation systems, when the room was changed to a 4th floor, noise was lower but still present, which disturbed my sleep. I guess the team knows about the problems but should have warned the clients in advance if a room of an higher category should be chosen to get a quit and uninterrupted sleep.

My wife and I along with another couple we were traveling with stayed at the Charles for several days. It is a fabulous hotel. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and enjoyed it immensely. The staff were extremely competent and friendly. The location is great, within easy walking distance of the Marienplatz and other sights. I cannot recommend The Charles more highly.

In true sense, a hotel is not a 5 star , just by the bulk of facilities it offers but the it's human touch to make the stay of it's guests as comfortable & as memorable as possible. This hotel truly falls in that category. I have stayed in many good hotels in the past but was honestly amazed to see the cooperative approach of the team at this hotel. All my requests were taken care off, especially the one related to an early check (as early as 8 am in the morning). Now that's something never heard of by a hotel in Europe who are pretty adamant on the check in timings. Really, really appreciate this gesture taking into consideration the face that I reached the hotel after a pretty long flight & was really tired. Now comes the property : Rooms are quite large, spic clean & nicely designed. Breakfast decent & service nice. I would also like to mention here the names of Marco at the porch & the young lady at the reception who made the first experience on reaching the hotel & really nice one. The hotel is in walking distance to the downtown & shopping area. There are many good cafes & restaurants in walking distance, what else do you want while choosing a good property for your upcoming stay. Will definitely choose this hotel when coming to Munich next :)

Thank you for the remarkable stay at your hotel. Please see my review with warm regards. If you are looking for the best hotel in Munich, you should not hesitate to consider The Charles Hotel. It stands far beyond the competition and represents true luxury. And no, that’s not just about marble, furniture, or interior design. It’s about people. What makes this hotel exceptional is the genuine welcome and recognition. From the moment you arrive, the experience begins: the bell staff are remarkable, friendly, organized, and fully engaged. You immediately feel taken care of. At reception, you notice something rare in hospitality today—familiar faces, long-term staff, and a sense of continuity. After just a short time, it already feels like coming home. This is the kind of place you want to return to again and again. The restaurant follows a refreshing philosophy: no unnecessary decoration, no hiding behind presentation. It’s a clean, honest approach—less is more. If you are looking for overly styled dishes with average taste, this is not your place. But if you appreciate truly delicious food, you are exactly right here. The cuisine feels like authentic Italian home cooking—flavorful pasta, perfectly prepared meat, and a focus on quality over show. It’s the kind of food that makes you want to order just one more dish. A special highlight is the lunch offering: a daily three-course menu including drinks and coffee for €45. In a city like Munich, this is almost unbeatable. Combined with outstanding service during lunch, it becomes a must-visit. One young gentleman in particular stood out—friendly, attentive, and genuinely engaged. His recommendation for a place to enjoy Match Latte - as simple as that made a real difference for my daughter and became a memorable part of our trip. Another highlight was the housekeeping team. A lady on the third floor went above and beyond, proactively asking if we needed anything. After requesting some water, we returned to find a beautifully prepared selection of bottles along with a kind note—far more than expected and a gesture that truly made us happy. Breakfast also deserves special mention. The selection is excellent, but the real standout is the egg dishes from the kitchen. The Eggs Benedict, in particular, were exceptional—the hollandaise sauce was perfectly balanced and executed. Overall, The Charles Hotel delivers what many places promise but rarely achieve: authentic luxury driven by people, consistency, and attention to detail. Highly recommended.
