Amazing Bavarian Elegance
This hotel retains the elegance and graciousness of a century ago. The staff is amazingly prepared and competent, and the facilities are well maintained. The rooms are a good size and the bed is comfortable. The service is responsive. The breakfast is superb.

Elegant hotel in a prime location
The location of the Bayerischer Hof is excellent—right in the heart of Munich. During my stay, the hotel was undergoing renovations, and the reception area had been temporarily relocated. Despite this, the check-in process went very smoothly. The front desk agent was calm, friendly, and professional. Although we arrived earlier than the official check-in time and had booked on short notice, he was able to offer us an early check-in, which was much appreciated. Coincidentally, the same staff member assisted us with check-out. While again polite and helpful, I found it unnecessary to provide my invoicing details a second time, as the ones I had submitted during check-in had apparently not been saved. These are small details, but when they don’t work, they leave the impression of weak internal organization. We had breakfast only on the first day at the rooftop restaurant, which offers a beautiful view over Munich’s rooftops. However, for the following days, we chose to eat breakfast elsewhere, as the selection didn’t feel particularly special for the price. Our room faced the inner courtyard, with no real view. More inconvenient was the constant noise from what appeared to be the hotel’s ventilation or extraction systems, which made it uncomfortable to keep the windows open for long. There were also some unexplained noises coming from the bathroom. On one evening, we ordered room service, which was excellent—high-quality food, beautifully presented, and delivered promptly. On the third night, I was woken up by the sound of dripping from the air conditioner. I placed a towel on the floor, but the next day, housekeeping didn’t seem to notice, and the issue persisted when the unit was on. That said, the housekeeping team did a generally very good and detailed job. The room was always clean and well-maintained. However, towels were replaced daily even when hung up, which felt unnecessary, especially considering they were larger and more luxurious than standard hotel towels. Overall, the hotel is clearly committed to preserving its tradition of elegance and service. With a bit more consistency in operations and attention to small guest-facing details, the experience could feel even more polished and seamless.

Outdated historical hotel in the center
In overall, it is nice historical hotel very close to Marien Platz, other attractions, nice restaurants, shopping. The staff were excellent and hard working, friendly. The hotel is famous for many famous people and politicians staying here. However, it is outdated and was under remodeling during our stay. AC did not work well and kept us up by making strange noises. I had one of the best massages in spa. My main issue is naked man exposing themselves in common spa area which has cold plunge, showers to rinse, wet and dry saunas. Dry sauna in women only section did not work. I end up leaving the common spa, I do not want to see naked man, there were no naked women, just men. It is simply disgusting.

Generally, very good!
We enjoyed our second stay at the Bayerischer Hof in Munich, returning one year later. The hotel is still undergoing some renovation and we hope to see the completed version next year. My room was beautifully finished. The service at check-in / check-out and housekeeping was slick. We enjoyed the Garden Restaurant once again and late-night drinks in the bar - very friendly service at both! We remembered to reserve tables for pre-drinks in the Roof Garden bar in advance this year and had an enjoyable experience. This was let down however by slow service and a muddle with the bill, which took time to resolve at check-out. It had not been properly split between our two rooms and other people's drinks ended up on our bill. I think the pool area could be kept a little tidier. Breakfast is excellent - with a splendid variety at the buffet and efficient service.
