Our stay was great. The room was clean and comfortable. The ocean and pools are amazing. Everything is incredibly expensive but to me expected at a resort. Overall, great time!

Hotel - clean, friendly, gym is huge and modern. Spa is super nice and you can get a day pass to use the sauna. Casino is fun. There are a million pools and the flamingos and sea turtles were so awesome. Our kids are younger teens and the weekend we went was skewed much younger (so many strollers) but we rented a cabana at the water park and it was a ton of fun (easy walk to get to water park). Super relaxing weekend. Additionally, Hyatt went above and beyond in resolving a duplicate booking I made and really made me feel valued. There are other options at the property (i.e. the SLS Baha Mar) but the way Hyatt followed through for me in their service means I would only stay there when we go back.

The resort was amazing. The food at the restaurants was delicious. It has so many pools and activities that it keeps you entertained throughout the entire stay. Tinoya at the front desk was super friendly and informational.

Do not visit Baha Mar. The service was abysmal and they were out of several items desired by the group (i.e. champagne, NA beers, aperol, and milk options OTHER than whole milk). No staff member was ever willing to go to another dining outlet to get what you needed. The food was offensively expensive and offensively bad. At one restaurant, the server brought another tables order to our table. A member of our group started eating the French fries and then the server took it back and brought it to the right table, which is a huge violation of food safety rules. The chicken that was served to us at this same restaurant was completely raw. Forget about a pool chair if you get to the pool after 2:00 pm. People around us were smoking at the pool and we had to leave. When our group played tennis, the water station on our court and in the pro shop were both out of water. When we asked for more, the staff was very unfriendly and acted very inconvenienced. There are many better options in the Bahamas and the Caribbean and I would not waste your time or money at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar.

Here’s my honest review of this place as a person who has traveled to many five star resorts around the world. First, I’m currently here travelling with my entire family for my parents 40th wedding anniversary we have eight children with us and seven adults. As far as the grounds and entertainment and things to do for kids, it’s great. Beautiful pools, waterpark and beach all right here. My gripe is not with the physical grounds, rooms or amenities. It’s truly the service pretty much from every person you come into contact with, with few exceptions. First of all, even by 5 star hotel standards it’s expensive. Which is to be expected- but even slightly higher than most 5 stars I’ve stayed at and the quality of food is just OK. And with almost every order and every meal, the servers have been dismissive, unhelpful and flat out rude. It genuinely feels like they don’t want to interact with you. We noticed a 15% additional “service charge” added to every meal. So for a dinner of 3 adults and 1 child that came to nearly $400, we simply asked whether that was a tip. Server said to us flat out “no, not a tip” then walked away. So we pulled another server (at Leola) to ask what it was, to which he said “this is gratuity that’s shared for all restaurant staff, anything above that is for me only on the tip line.” Let me be clear, that’s no problem for us. We’re happy to leave a great tip for our server, but it’s the odd deception that rubbed me the wrong way. Because not one person bothered to explain this service charge that’s added to every single thing you consume here, we’ve been tipping on top of the total including 15%. I guess the overall vibe of this place is that they want to charge you $40 for a burger, but literally told me I can’t have a knife with it. I ordered it lettuce wrapped and they actually told me I had to cut it with my plastic fork (which broke, trying to). My parents have no problem paying for a great experience and good food, it’s just beyond off putting when you have a person that essentially tosses your food at you and says good luck and go away. Anyways. I hope this experience starts turning around for this, and I can justify the value of this place.
