Reviews for Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

Lots of Japanese charm and serenity

We had a wonderful stay. The staff is amazing and very friendly. Our room was very big and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is great also the hotel’s restaurants. The hotel’s garden is a gem. Note that it is located a bit far from Tokyo’s tourist attractions, there is always a taxi waiting outside and there is a metro station nearby.

Luxurious hotel with wonderful garden

Spacious and luxurious room with high quality amenities. Unfortunately, it is located in an inconvenient area without nearby restaurants and shops. Truly enjoyed the healing treatment offered in SPA including a hot spring in the hotel was wonderful.

Best hotel we ever stayed in. Gorgeous with excellent staff.

We’ve travelled to more than 25 countries and stayed in more than 100 hotels, and Chinzanso is hands down the best hotel we’ve stayed in. The hotel was beautiful, the room was large and had everything we needed. The Suite we stayed in had floor to ceiling windows overlooking the garden and oh what a view. Cherry blossom trees, pagoda, the pond, waterfall you name it. Of course no review of Chinzanso would be complete without mentioning the absolutely fantastic garden. It’s the most beautiful hotel garden one can imagine. The cloud mist and lighting at night made it extra special. We also enjoyed walking in the garden during the mist. More than just beautiful, the garden had a lot of interesting features from the 5 story pagoda, to the 500 years tree, statuses from 1925. If you’re into photography, this garden is a dream come true. You can even take a picture of the cherry blossom tree from behind the waterfall, how awesome is that! One can hardly believe that you are in the middle of Tokyo. What sets Chinzanso apart was also the excellent staff. By Japan’s standard, their English was very good (the concierge spoke perfect English). Nothing is too difficult for the staff. Taxis are available with just 5 minutes wait (maximum), the staff really aim to please. Everyone was so polite and kind and always smiling. Breakfast at the Japanese restaurant was also very very good. Special mention to Nakamura Yoshimitsu (Director of Rooms). My wife and I fell in love with a pair of Japanese saucers that were made available in our room. We wanted to buy them. When Nakamura found out that the hotel were not selling them, he must have made at least 5-6 calls to different managers and departments to persuade them to let us buy the saucers. He even managed to find us new ones and we got them for a very reasonable price. Thank you very much Nakamura-San. Overall , we love our time in Chinzanso and would have no hesitation to come visit again. It’s our hotel of choice in Tokyo. In fact we are already planning to come back to Chinzanso this autumn.

A Magical Place

The staff, the hotel, the rooms, the food - all excellent! You will be tempted to just stay inside the hotel the entire time you are in Tokyo. And if you do venture out, you can’t wait to get back to the hotel. And that garden!!! Magical! The mist makes it so unique Try to get a room with a garden view.

Hidden Gem

Wow! Hard to believe that this oasis exists in the middle of the largest city in the world. Acres and acres of perfectly manicured gardens with an incredible number of camellia varieties (“Chin" means camellia and "zanso" small mountain and Chinzanso Hotel Garden is truly is a small mountain covered with hundreds of specimen variety camellias plus an ancient pagoda relocated from Hiroshima and beautiful outbuilding restaurants. This peaceful, private garden is open only to hotel guests to wander with twice-hourly mist shows. Be sure to wander several occasions, morning, mid day, twilight and evening. The staff is extraordinarily attentive, guests feel truly welcomed and special. My grandsons were each give a gift when they arrived, adorable little stuffed dogs, and they had the crib set up fro the baby with a hamper of baby supplies and another stuffed toy. The view of the Tokyo skyline are incredible, you could even see Skytree from our window. The Spa area is lovely for a small fee. Steam bath, sauna, indoor and outdoor onsen and swimming pool included. There is even a breakfast bar for a very small fee in the spa. Restaurants were amazing and a reasonable price. Location is in a small, quiet residential area bit only a few minute taxi ride from Shinjuku, Tokyo and the Imperial Palace. Taxis are always out from ready to go (even if you forget to book one for the airport😳) . Conbinis are within walking distance. Next door to Eisie Bunko Museum.
