With its remarkable location along the Mexican Pacific Coast, and opulent European influences, Villa La Estancia Riviera Nayarit is the essence of luxury living. A part of the Lifestyle collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, this posh resort overlooks Banderas Bay with ocean views as far as the eye can see. Add to the mix its AAA 4-Diamond Award status, soothing full-service spa sanctuary, culinary delights and lavish accommodations - and you have the perfect tropical paradise. Each guest room - be it a studio or three-bedroom villa - has a framed bay view that can only be rivaled by the plethora of amenities, including sleek marble floors and gourmet kitchens. The resort is situated just 10 minutes from Puerto Vallarta International Airport, and is part of a newer development that includes haute restaurants and nightclubs.

As frequent travelers who often rely on the consistency promised by VIP Access properties, Villa La Estancia in Puerto Vallarta was a letdown in every sense. Despite arriving during what was clearly a low-occupancy weekend, not even a gesture of a room upgrade was extended—no acknowledgment, no effort. For a resort marketed under the VIP umbrella, this felt more transactional than thoughtful. The service, unfortunately, echoed the same indifference. Staff were polite, but rarely proactive. Dining options are surprisingly sparse for a property of this caliber, limited to two underwhelming restaurants—both plagued by long wait times and uninspired menus. For a resort claiming AAA Diamond recognition, the culinary program felt more like a checkbox than a point of pride. Villa La Estancia has the bones of a premium resort but none of the soul. The experience lacked warmth, intuition, and the small luxuries that define true hospitality. After this stay, we’ll be reconsidering the value of VIP Access properties in Mexico—and whether the label holds any real weight.

Just back yesterday from a family vacation at Estancia. We had a 3 bedroom suite with all inclusive. The room was really nice. The best part about the resort is that it sits right on the beach. We were on the 4th floor with a great view looking south east. Overall, the facilities are very good and you can use everything next door at Villa del Palmar Flamingos. Food was pretty average with the best breakfast at Estancia and the best dinner at the Italian restaurant next door. But the people are what really makes this a special place. My checkin with Paola was easy and she was very informative. Next is the pool. Jesus and Daniel are the best at finding you places to lounge around the pool brining you fresh towels when needed. The waitstaff and bartenders are great there as well. Luna, David, Nico, and Lucio ran the bar to perfection. The service was incredible with a fantastic swim up bar. Enrique waited on us in the Mexican restaurant in Flamingos. He was also our waiter at the Mexican fiesta. One of the best waiters I have ever had. Right on top of everything. The Italian wait staff team was also great. Raul, Yomar, Ceasor, and Aldo did a wonderful job both nights we ate there. If you have an opportunity to be in Nuevo Vallarta, give Villa La Estancia a chance. You won't regret it.

Our whole stay was amazing, but truly Jesus and Daniel at the pool made our day every day! Lucio at the bar as well. I wish I could remember more names. The staff is really what made it- some of the most genuine and friendly people I’ve ever met and they even put up with me practicing my Spanish :-) the room was clean and beautiful, truly couldn’t have asked for more! Also worth mentioning I have a dairy allergy and the restaurants were so kind and accommodating. Until next time!

We have had the best family vacation. Jesus & Daniel have treated us as VIP the entire week at the pool and beach. The food and drinks are top notch. We will return.

Villa La Estancia in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico was incredibly beautiful. The suite and facilities were elegant and impeccably maintained. The staff was always professional and helpful; there were no sales pitches, ever. The restaurants on the meal plan were very good, and we did not feel the need to leave the resort for meals. This was certainly the most relaxing and overall best vacation we've taken in years. I would go back again in a heartbeat!
