The Apurva Kempinski Bali

Wonderful and much-needed Balinese massage by Eka….Already feel so much more relaxed and am sure it will help me sleep better despite the jet lag. Each time I come to the spa, am reminded how beautiful it is - one of my favorite spots in Bali and outstanding hospitality at the Apurva Kempinski.

The staff named of Fitri's treatment and support toward us was magnificent, excellent! We Japanese never have experienced such a good support!

I had booked a two-bedroom pool villa for four persons, including my mother and myself, via the GHA app, and I really wanted everyone to enjoy the stay. Alas, we only found out upon arrival that unlike the pool villas in some other hotels, this one was a double-storey villa, with the master bedroom on the ground floor and the second bedroom upstairs. It was certainly a nice villa with two well-appointed, spacious rooms and a nice pool. In fact, the twin-sharing room upstairs that my mum and I eventually took was really pleasant too; it offered much privacy, and even had a writing desk. But it was just too bad that three of our party of four had varying degrees of difficulty using the two flights of stairs. It was particularly challenging on a rainy evening when I had to be the one to hasten downstairs to open the door for hotel staff while trying not to slip in the rain. All the same, the Apurva Kempinski is undoubtedly a beautiful hotel. There was so much to see, do and sample that there was really no need to leave the hotel at all. Titanium privileges meant that we enjoyed early check-in and late checkout, complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea at the Villa Lounge, welcome fruit baskets, complimentary mini bars and complimentary cocktails. We were also “compensated” for the lack of a double room upgrade (another Titanium privilege) with two complimentary 90-minute massages at the hotel spa. Unfortunately we had the key issue of the stairs, and no other pool villas were available. It was such a stressful time - just the opposite of what I had hoped for, especially after so much planning and anticipation. It isn’t easy to please everyone when you are the one organising everything because you are deemed the experienced traveller. It isn’t fair either. Was I grateful then, for the following that lifted our spirits: - My mum and I exploring the lovely hotel grounds (with the help of a buggy); - Both of us having the 90-minute massage that was both calming and relaxing (at only slightly more than IDR2,000,000 each, including taxes, the signature “Gending Apurva” with its combination of warm poultice and different massage techniques by expert hands was delightfully different from our usual Swiss version, and hence an excellent choice); - Me swimming laps and “decompressing” at the huge infinity pool; - Both of us having a delectable, relaxing gourmet lunch for two in the tunnel section of Koral Restaurant (a “tunnel” table was serendipitously available upon arrival!); - Both of us having a yummy, peaceful lunch for two at Izakaya by Oku; - Both of us enjoying the in-room dining services (oooh, the fried chicken!). As expected of a Kempinski hotel, service was excellent, with many staff going the extra mile with a ready smile. Staff I recall interacting with include “ladies in red” Ratna (welcoming and kind) and Summer (courageous and empathetic); Varino (welcoming, with positive energy); Tommy (photographer at the “famous Kempinski steps”with initiative and enthusiasm); Gustu (obliging; provided a quick, impromptu tour of the hotel grounds on a buggy); Tim (cheerful driver of buggy to Koral Restaurant); Surya (cheered us up with a bottle of Italian Pinot Rosé); Dewa De (cheerful in-room dining service); Anastasia (Villa Lounge reception); Ari, Edy and Widya (Villa Lounge); Wiwik (Villa Lounge checkout); Puspita, Ulan & Darmadi (Koral Restaurant); Anas, Visas and Vera the bartender (Izakaya by Oku). Considering the circumstances, all was not lost. We thank all the staff we had the pleasure of meeting in person. We would still recommend the Apurva Kempinski in Nusa Dua, Bali. But please, do learn from our experience.

Where do I even begin... Probably one of the best luxurious hotel experience you can get in South East Asia - from the breathtaking taking architecture to the extremely professional yet warm hospitality from each and every single staff I met. Apurva Kempinski is definitely the best Kempinski experience thus far and big thumbs up to the staff that made this experience such an unforgettable one. Special mention to the 2 staff working at the lobby entrance (grab pickup point) who took the initiative to head out to the security post to collect my emergency medication which I ordered via Grabmart and the Grab delivery rider was insistent on not coming to the lobby from the security post as "lobby was too far". The 2 staff assured me that the grab riders are supposed to deliver to the lobby collection point and then headed out to collect from the rider. (This was on 27 Dec around 11.45pm). Special shout out to these 2 staffs :) Highly recommended to both couples and families as Apurva is packed with facilities for all traveler types!

A pleasant experience, everything was nice 😍. The food, the people and the environment it’s very nice I’m coming back for sure. Honeymooners, make it your first destination if you want to enjoy the beach and have a good time here of relaxing Vanny was a lovely girl, she is so nice and helpful
