Situated in Southern Mexico, southeast of Mexico City, Quinta Real Oaxaca; exudes classic beauty and rich colonial history. Part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, this former convent of Santa Catalina was built in 1576 and has been meticulously restored to its early Spanish Baroque splendor. We were at a hotel for a wedding, and it was a beautiful, fun venue. The hotel is conveniently located (walking distance) to shops, restaurants, parks, and churches. The food was very good and the service was generally very good as well. We had one incident with a phone that was left at the restaurant, and even though it was in the possession of the restaurant manager, it was not returned or reported. Fortunately, we had a sound notification, but it was only when it was activated many hours later that it was given back. The rooms were lovely, good size, clean, and well-stocked. If there is an event at the hotel, it can be noisy and make it difficult to sleep.

This hotel is located in a former convent right in the centre of the old town, it's location is fantastic. The building itself is lovely. We originally chose a gran class king but it was a bit cramped and dark (not helped as we had 3 large suitcases!) And the bathroom was small. So we moved to a gran class with 2 double beds with a pool view which was more spacious with a newly renovated bathroom. The pool area is very nice, pool itself was warm. But there are limited sun loungers (they could put more out) and the sun has gone by around 5pm latest. Staff are very good with great service. There is no lift and a lot of steps due to the nature of the building, but staff will help carry stuff. Breakfast was nice, more than enough to eat. Would recommend this hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Quinta Real. The property is stunning and the staff are welcoming and helpful. Because the property is so old some things are a bit janky - the shower in my room did not have an adjustable head and water sprayed all over the floor a couple times, but this was a minor hassle in light of the overall experience. I would absolutely stay here again.

We had a lovely week at the hotel. It is charming and historic. All employees were very kind. The beds were comfortable with quality linens. We loved the late afternoon treats delivered to our room...cookies, pastries, chocolate-covered strawberries...every day was different. At turn-down service, we were given chocolates and a lovely bookmark with a famous quote. There is a lot of attention to detail. The building is very old, but it is kept immaculately clean. The king rooms were a bit small with only a desk chair to sit on and not a lot of storage. I would move to a larger room if I were again staying a week or more. The only other negative for us was the swimming pool area. It's a lovely setting, but there are only 8 uncomfortable sagging lounge chairs, although there are several umbrella tables and chairs. The lounges are covered with a towel that is tied to it and the guests get their own individual towels to place on top of that. If someone has been sitting in the chair and the under towel is wet, it soaks through to the towel you put on top. With a hotel of this quality, I would expect a pool person that would refresh those wet towels between guests and also remove towels that people have left behind when they depart.
