Dingy feeling lobby. Felt like 2.5 star hotel. Wanted $60 for checking in early. My wife who’s not fussy said she wanted find a better place. Went to Indigo and it was great.

This hotel failed in nearly every way. Its shuttle was not available for airport pick up at a standard time – – 7:30 PM. The restaurant staff was in attentive both for a night snack and for breakfast. We left one day for other options at breakfast because there was simply no one available to serve us. The next day we had to repeatedly ask for coffee. At check-in, the person who was authorized was on break. The trainee was not authorized to check people in. The wait was 20 minutes. Upon return to our room for the second night, a note was slid under the door that water would not be available from 2 AM to 6 AM. This was due to ongoing construction in the area and was not a surprise to the hotel. It should not have been renting rooms given this inability to provide water that was not remedied at 6 AM. Hot water was never available after the initial shut off. Meanwhile, construction all night was incredibly loud right outside the hotel. It stopped about 5 AM, at which point construction began outside our room on floor seven where they were redoing the electrical. Upon leaving to check out, the floor had been deconstructed. The worker immediately entered our room to start working on the electrical there. Reception was unhelpful concerning polite complaint about the second night stay. The manager was supposedly not available. We disputed the charge with the credit card company and Expedia. Interestingly, the same person at reception who said she could not help did authorize to Expedia and call me to let me know she had done so. The dispute process took at least an hour. This hotel has potential but does not merit the good reviews that it has had in the past given its current situation. Service was poor throughout, the hotel, marginally, clean, the construction so involved that they should not be renting rooms.

We had stayed at this hotel prior to all of the building and road work that is going on in downtown Omaha. After driving nearly 500 miles from Denver, tired and looking for a straightforward check-in, instead we were greeted with a single lane street, tall fencing and a gravel and mud driveway. The hotel had placed no signage to indicate just how to pull in. Trying to pull up to the hotel was impossible with two cars left by guests awaiting valet to drive them off, so backing up on the street to take a second gravel/mud driveway, lead us to nose up to the main entrance. My husband got out and inquired at the desk and was informed "Just leave it there." While I was waiting in the car, a truck was trying to exit their garage, and I was in the way. I suggest (and a tip we will adhere to ever after) that you call the hotel directly if you are booking online, not just in Omaha but anywhere to inquire if it is under construction inside or out. Though they upgraded us to a suite, it didn't make up for the frat house environment at 2:30 a.m. with guys running the halls, banging on the doors and talking loudly. Finally, at 3:30 a.m., the noise stopped.

We booked a Deluxe King Suite. It looked nothing like the photos and there was an empty room. We tried to immediately check out and they wouldn’t help us or let us talk to a manager. Additionally there is no parking except valet and the streets all around the hotel are under construction.

Don’t let all the road construction deter you from staying here. GPS may not help a great deal right now since some roads are closed around the hotel. The Deco is in a historic building, and the lobby features most of the “art Deco” design with marble floors and walls, and lovely designs. They have a really wonderful restaurant called the Monarch that takes you down a couple levels (like it’s sunken.) Don’t trust the online menus, they were all wrong. Prices are about what you would expect for the old market district. The food is very flavorful and tasty. I tried their pork egg rolls for an appetizer. Instead of a little egg roll like you might normally expect, these egg rolls were burrito-sized, with a crispy exterior. There is also a “speak easy” but I didn’t get a chance to see it. 24-hour valet is a must right now with so much road construction, and worth every penny.
