Reviews for SO/ Paris

Warm hospitality and cozy comfort in Paris!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed at SO/ Paris in late May 2025 and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Breakfast each morning was a highlight, with a lovely variety of options and amazing views from the restaurant—such a perfect way to start the day! Most mornings we weren’t in a hurry, but on the one day we needed to be out quickly, the staff made sure we were accommodated so we could stay on schedule. We booked through the AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts program. While we weren’t able to get the upgrade due to the hotel being at capacity, everything else was spot-on, including a much-appreciated early check-in after our long flight from LAX. My husband is pretty picky about beds, but he kept raving about how comfortable the bed was—and we both slept incredibly well each night. The room was cozy, quiet, and the turndown service added a nice touch. For Paris (and Europe) standards, the room was nicely sized—nothing over the top, but definitely comfortable and fully adequate. The staff were wonderful: very friendly and always greeting us warmly when we came in. There’s a younger team here, which brings a fun, energetic vibe to the atmosphere. The location was fantastic: very walkable with plenty to explore nearby, and the metro station was just around the corner. We’ve already recommended SO/ Paris to friends and family. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay—the experience and value were exactly what we hoped for at this price point. Can’t wait to come back!

Great stay at the hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

The hotel is beautiful, tastefully decorated inside. Location is great. We got a room with the view of the river and the Pantheon. Rooms are quite spacious, linens and towels of very good quality. The staff made our experience unforgettable. Melina at the concierge desk scored a same day reservation for us at Plenitude. She also set us up at other nice restaurants every evening. We were very happy with her pleasant demeanor and professionalism. The rooftop bar has amazing 360 degree views of the city. Staff at the bar is also very friendly. Special shout out to Hector, Arnaud, and Pietro. Lack of access to pool and the small spa were the only two disappointments during our stay. We’d definitely stay here during our next Paris trip.

Very comfortable and great location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel is lovely. The best was the quality of the room, the bedding (linen) and the towels are extremely soft and comfortable. The room is very clean, and very quiet at all times. The hotel carries a wonderful fragrance everywhere, the ambiant perfume is a delight. I was a bit disappointed that (as I booked with Amex) I was not upgraded to a bigger and better room (supposedly the hotel was full). The room they gave me was on the 14th floor, sure, but the view was not as good as last time (facing East, with rooftop view; as opposed to last time, when it faces west with a view of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, and La Seine), and the room was too small for two persons. The breakfast was ok, but the staff very rude (beautiful young women, and a diverse staff but a bit rude; the young men were the best). The lack of a nice gym and a pool was a sad surprise too. Room service is prohibitively expensive.

Try & Love It “Service Magnificent”

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel is very nice, rooms medium size not large, but nice; staff is outstanding, wonderful included breakfast, my favorite was the “free bikes” not because they were free but it is the only way to see Paris; we used them for 4 days and would not have but for the bikes sitting there. Great room service, Landry service etc. Again, the staff was the best, there is no service without staff. The rooftop bar was a great way to end a tired day on the streets of Paris, lovely city lovely hotel just blocks from the heartbeat of the City but outside tourist district. Try and live it!

Trendy not Luxury

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I spent 4 nights at the S/O driven primarily by their participation in the Chase Sapphire Reserve ‘The Edit’ program, which ostensibly comes with some benefits. More on that later… This trendy hotel is billed as luxury though I’m not sure why. In the duration of my stay there I didn’t see a single employee above the age of 25, which translated to lots of chatter and phone scrolling but little in the way of real service. My room not only wasn’t available early (an alleged benefit of their participation in the aforementioned Chase program) but I had to track down a front desk representative when the actual checkin time came and went. The room upgrade, another alleged benefit, was also not available. In general the ambiance of the lobby is poor: unfriendly and unprofessional, with staff clearly preferring to chat together or scroll on their phones. The room was fine but really nothing special: sparsely furnished, an armoire instead of a proper closet and an open slatted divider (not a proper wall) which separated the sleeping area from the sink and shower (mercifully a separate WC). I can only assume that the reason for this is cost driven but it really only makes sense for the solo traveler. The bed was comfortable enough and the view of La Bastille from the 13th floor was lovely. The welcome amenity of a 1/2 bottle of champagne and a cookie was nice. The room rate included breakfast in Bonnie Restaurant which is separate from the hotel. The experience, and the food, is positively terrible. Here again, lots of 20 something’s hanging around chatting while dated disco blasts through the space. Two of 4 days I ordered eggs…two of 4 days I received cold, totally ungarnished awful food. One day I returned it and received something only slightly warmer. By the 3rd day I ordered continental breakfast sent to the room and altogether skipped breakfast on my final morning. To the management of S/O: Bonnie is doing your brand exactly zero favors. In the end, with so many incredible hotels in Paris, this is definitely not one I would return to. I’m not sure what the criteria is for 5 stars but this is definitely not it.
