SO/ Paris

Overall, we enjoyed many great things about the SO/ with only two annoying drawbacks that would make us hesitate to return or refer friends. One of the best aspects of our stay was the great location of the hotel. Basically on the Seine, a block from a metro station (Sully), short walk from Notre Dame and next to the Marais, but on a quiet street not in the middle of hordes of tourists. Second, it’s one of the tallest buildings in the area, so there are incredible views of the city (especially from the restaurant). Third, it’s a relatively new hotel (a couple of years old). But it also a very “modern and stylish” hotel design, which similar to a previous experience at the SO in Vienna can be more annoying than practical and appealing. Specifically for the SO/ Paris the two main disadvantages for our stay were in the design of the room. First, while we had a spectacular view of the city, anyone in the room also had a clear view of anyone in the bathroom (sink and shower), as instead of an actual door, the bathroom and closet doors consisted of a wooden “gate” design with absolutely no privacy. (Well maybe you could hang up a robe on the “door” to provide a modicum of privacy while showering. So you had better be very comfortable with your traveling partner. Second, while the toilet does have privacy by being in a separate compartment near the entrance, there is absolutely no sound insulation so anyone in the room can hear everything happening in the toilet. If neither of those issues would bother you, this can be a great hotel option for Paris. But it would not be my idea of luxury, more style over substance.

We stayed here for three nights. The hotel is on a quiet street and about a block from the Surly-Moreland metro station. This makes it very convenient and easy to get around via the Metro. All the staff was friendly and the hotel is beautiful. We opted for a larger room with cityline view and we absolutely loved it. We had plenty of space and the view was stunning. Could clearly see the Eiffel Tower. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bar is nice with great views. Definitely recommend this hotel. Expensive but it is Paris and you get what you pay for.

Stylish hotel that is also comfortable and relaxed. While the hotel design and rooftop views are beautiful (as you’d expect), the staff were the stand out of my trip. From the reception team to the bar and restaurant staff, the service was excellent and the staff were very polite and welcoming! I visited for a birthday and So/Paris made it one to remember, thank you so much!

Well located in the 4th, on the Seine, with delightful and open views and close walks to the Notre Dame and the Left Bank. Yet, far from the maddening crowds. The hotel is unique in design and attitude, airy, bright, colorful and comfortable - different from the classic, stuffy, claustrophobic, Paris usual. Our room, on an upper floor with river views, was spacious, well appointed, quiet and a good retreat after long walks and exploring. The bar on the top floor is spectacular with great seating and wonderful views, it’s also a happening place most evening. The restaurant was good and our breakfasts were more than adequate. Along with the Brach in the 16th, this is a favorite.
