Reviews for The Westin Paris - Vendome

Very dated

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 17 hours ago

The bed was comfortable but it ends there. The room was dusty and drab. The bathroom was dusty and dated. The most amazing part is - you can get one complimentary cup of tea per room each day, but it comes with tea bags in a mug, no water, no milk. Apparently you have to ask for a fresh cup of tea and then you get a kettle and you have to ask for milk. The entrance lobby to our lift looked like a broom cupboard without brooms. The staff were not friendly apart from a lovely girl from the Netherlands on reception. I note the previous reviews and the reply saying sorry our hotel did not meet your expectations!! This certainly didn’t.

Fantastic location, tired decor

After traveling for several weeks, our last stop before home was a night in Paris. We'd started in Paris, so using points I booked into this hotel for our last night because it is near a favorite restaurant (and I had a free night certificate I could put to good use!). We were only here for about 18 hours so my impressions are based on a quick trip. This hotel is fine for a quick trip. The location is outstanding especially if you'll be heading over to the Louvre. We were checked in and upgraded from standard points room to a junior suite due to my Bonvoy Platinum status which was very nice. The junior suite itself overlooked an interior grouping of other rooms so no view to speak of, but it was large, comfortable and well maintained if a bit basic in the bathroom (bathtub shower rather than stand alone shower, small sink area). Getting to it was accomplished by following an absolute warren of twists and turns once we departed elevator. Not ideal when the hotel somehow cancelled our room access sometime between when we went to breakfast then returned to our room at 10 am. The front desk told us it was because we hadn't requested a late check out as our status allowed, but we didn't request the late check out because we were leaving at 11 for airport and regular checkout is at noon. We stopped at the bar for a drink before dinner and while the champagne was great, the service was fast and pleasant, the space itself was dated. The outdoor terrace was closed for renovation, the restaurant we had breakfast in the next morning was dark and tired as well. It appears based on construction supplies on our floor that the hotel is doing renovations bit by bit on room and to central areas. I imagine once the renovations are done it will be very comfortable. The absolutely great location means I will probably stay here again at some point, I hope to see the improvements once they are concluded.

Great location & customer service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We stayed at this historic hotel for 4 days. The building was build in the 1800s. The interior and the rooms are not up-to-date and has its own unique charm. I would not recommend this hotel to travelers who prefer modern decor. But what's lacking in decor, the hotel makes it up in their location, friendly customer service, comfy bed, and great patio over looking the Eiffel Tower. Yes, you have to pay extra to get rooms with Eiffel Tower view but we found it to be worth it. We enjoyed waking up to the view in the morning and admiring its glittering lights in the evening. The location of the hotel is unbeatable. It's literally a few minutes away from all the luxury shops, across the street from Cédric Grolet cafe (take-away only), and the famous Cafe Angelina. The Lourve was app. 15 min walk from the hotel. A few upgrades in the room would be recommended: coffee machine (vs calling for coffee or going down to the lobby), mini fridge that's not stocked so we can put our drinks, ice machine (although we would always get our ice on the double whenever we asked for it - kiddos!). I also think newer and updated furniture would also go a long way. We bought the room with the Eiffel Tower and we were lucky to be upgraded to the suite which was amazing! It has 3 small patio overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Seperate large bedroom and living room. The living room has an outdoor patio great for private sunbathing. Oh their bed....super comfortable with great pillows, not one of those that go flat once you put your head on them. I slept like a baby! The staff - everyone we talked to were friendly and helpful. It started with Nicholas who checked us in, the gentlemen at the entrance, the ladies who did great job in cleaning our room and Tonia who checked us out. Overall a great stay and we can't wait to come back.

A nice hotel, possibly in need of freshening up soon

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

This hotel could not be better situated for easy access to the Louvre and other museums and sights of Paris. The hotel itself is nice, but it needs to be mindful that it doesn't fall behind the competition and it could probably do with a freshen up. My room was not massive and the bathroom had seen better days, but it was very clean and the bed was comfortable and had proper pillows (I don't recall that being a relevant consideration when I was in my 20s). My top tip is that there is a lovely pub (The Frog House) close by, which serves burgers. It is well worth a visit. Much better than these bakeries made famous by Instagram, which have massive queues outside.

Tower view 10/10!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Wow!! What an absolute beautiful hotel. Located very close to everything it made getting around so easy. Was welcomed by Mehdi D. Who was very welcoming after such a long flight. The room was a dream come true. The view was spectacular! Oumama E. And Fatima were so helpful with requests late at night which really made the trip. It’s a beautiful hotel and I will definitely be back!
