We have heard so many wonderful things about Andaz Papagayo what we finally caved in and went. It was a good experience overall (rooms are nice and the atmosphere is great) but we felt everything was way overpriced. Food was just ok at the restaurants we tried, service was ok, but not warm or above and beyond and the globalist benefits weren't really a thing there besides the free breakfast. In conclusion, it was a good experience but no one that we are planning to repeat soon. I think the Riviera Maya (Secrets, for instance) are a better choice for us.

Location on pennisula papagayo was the reason we chose Andaz. We very much enjoyed the semi private beach with the Meso restaurant and beach facilities. That made the Andaz special. Rooms and views were very nice. Staff was Amazing. The dining options fell a bit short for 5-star. I would have not been as disappointed had we known we could dine at the other resorts on the peninsula, but no one told us during check in. Most disappointed in there being absolutely NO shopping options. Not even for a hat or teeshirt or simple souvenir. Overall we were satisfied with the stay

The Andaz Papagayo is a wonderful resort. The staff are all very friendly and the location of the resort can't be beat. The beautiful views of the bay are breathtaking. The Andaz Papagayo is a wonderful place to escape the cold in January or February. The weather is always wonderful and ocean water is also warm. Between the amenities at the resort and on Papagayo peninsula there is always something to do whether your preference is for a relaxing or a more active vacation experience. And don't miss out the spa. It is also wonderful and relaxing.

A beautiful property, the staff were very friendly and attentive, the rooms and patio space were fine. The spa and gym facilities were excellent! Loved the pools and the availble tours. There were only two issues we had with the room: 1. - the inlaid rock floor for the bathroom/shower can be pretty hard on your feet if you aren’t wearing sandals or slippers (reminiscent of when we had young kids who would leave Legos laying on the floor which you discovered in the dark when arefoot). 2. - the bed blankets vs. the HVAC - the only blanket on the bed was a comforter… which is nice except that it’s warm in Costa Rica, hence you have to turn the AC down or risk “cooking” under that comforter. Which is cool (pun intended), unless you’re up and about, in which case you’re freezing because the AC is turned down too low. We would’ve opted for just a sheet or simple blanket but there were none. Dining-wise it was a mixed experience. My wife and I are vegan, and available dishes varied with the venue and the time of day. Example: Breakfast at Gaio offers Vegan Tacos (quite good!), and the "Costa Rican Breakfast" Traditional Gallo Pinto: which they could prepare as vegan - * Instead of two eggs any style - have them swap tofu scramble, * Instead of local cheese & beef stew - have them swap a vegan sausage, Honestly they should actually list this vegan version of Gallo Pinto breakfast menu, it'd make it easier for people interested in plant-based choices instead of having to negotiate an alternative. BUT if you want to go to Gaio for their Italian dinner? There's nothing offered outside of a salad. We attempted to get a veggie pizza without cheese and with tofu added, but it was fairly poor. Luckily "Chao Pescao" had a decent vegan option and could make modifications to other menu options. Highly recommended. The problem is that if you're vegan and staying at the Andaz for a week, you're limited to the same options every day unless you venture off the property.

Wonderful time with my family. Rooms were large, great shower, bed, wifi. Loved the bag of laundry for $40, traveling with kids made that a must. Greet use of points staying st the hotel. Staff were all super nice, pools were great, enjoyed the shade on some of them too. Only negative is no elevators, so if you have little kids just be aware. Great food too.
