About the Hotel

The Slate is no ordinary beachside resort of thatched-roof cabanas – in its secluded location against a backdrop of dense rainforest, it crosses into the territory of cutting-edge design hotel, and the juxtaposition of nature and industry is alluring. The inspiration for The Slate came from owner Wichit Na-Ranong, whose ancestors led the country’s development through the tin mining industry. Na-Ranong pays tribute to “black gold” through sleek architecture and dark color motifs punctuated by objets d’art. Restaurants Rivet and Rebar, led by chef Fabrizio Crocetta, serve up some of Thailand’s most innovative and eclectic fare.

this was my second visit to the slate which we stayed at for a few days at the end of our Thailand trip and yet again it was amazing, the grounds are so beautiful and it's a great place to unwind and relax we were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a villa which made a perfect end to our family holiday i really can't fault this hotel all the staff are super helpful and friendly, and facilities are maintained well but most of all i find their beds really comfy. thank you again to the slate for making my stay an excellent experience.

Lovely 5* hotel, start your trip in Phuket here as it's only a 10 minute transfer from the airport ( was included in our package ). We moved onto Koh Yai Noi island following the Slate, with the marina for our boat transfer only 20 mins away, so very handy. From the moment we stepped into the Slate hotel transfer car it was a blissful and relaxing experience. We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, amazing breakfast and enough little beach bars and restaurants and massage places for a few nights, beach is across the road, 50 metres from the hotel rear gates and all secure. We enjoyed the Black Ginger dining experience also on our last night Small issue at checkout, while a little frustrating, was professionally sorted out by Claude the hotel manager, thank you.

An amazing experience. Stayed for 3 weeks and loved the resort. Few small niggles that management professionally handled rapidly The hotel is amazing. perfect location and design. A very peaceful vibe. Huge shout out to Champ the housekeeper he was awesome and deserves the praise for his hard work. Also the manager lady at breakfast (I didn’t catch her name) made me feel so welcome and like was mum welcoming you home each morning. Gave a very warm loving vibe. We will be back very soon.

Slate success

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We returned to the Slate for a second year running. I usually never go back somewhere I’ve been before for fear of ruining brilliant memories, but I can safely say that our second year at the Slate was as memorable as the first. The staff, the atmosphere and the quality of ‘you get what you pay for’ make for a fantastic experience. Thank you to Nim who looked after us again, and made sure our stay was every bit as memorable as 2024. I’d love to come back in 2026, so we will see! If you are a family looking for a high class hotel to blow you away then give the Slate. Try. * tip: put your kids into kids club and utilise the adults only pool for happy hour 2-4-1 drinks every day between 2pm-4pm!

Great hotel on a quiet and relaxing beach

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I love this hotel and have stayed on numerous occasions. The hotel itself is great, fantastic breakfast in a lovely setting, adult only pools as well as a large kids pool. Staff really look after you well, water delivered to the loungers at the pools and a fruit snack mid morning brought round. Whilst prices are steep within the hotel this is mitigated by happy hours at all the bars at different times throughout the day. Location is smashing too with a lovely wide beach directly outside of the hotel. There is also a small village with plenty of restaurants directly on the beach for you to indulge in serving an array of food. Easy living, relaxing location
