About the Hotel

Andaz Mayakoba is a luxury boutique hotel from Hyatt group located just minutes north of downtown Playa del Carmen, the hotel offers easy access to this popular town while also ensuring quiet retreat is never far away, that because Andaz Mayakoba is not a mega resort. The hotel is split up into two sections: Beach & Lagoon, and the distance between these two areas is surprising as they are a mile apart. For that reason, there are many bicycles that guests can use to ride around and there is always a golf cart around providing transportation. Four unique restaurants offer distinguished culinary experiences for which Andaz hotels are known. Inside, the guest rooms and suites are inspired by nature, with breezy open layouts flooded with natural light, and filled with refined artisanal décor. Local artworks adorn the walls, while complimentary Wi-Fi Internet keeps guests up to date.

Reviews for Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Excellent service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We had a fantastic wedding at The Andaz Mayakoba in early May. The service was excellent and everyone was so kind to us! We were a large group and ordered lots of food and drinks throughout the weekend on the beach and at the vegan bar. Armando in particular really took care of us. He was so friendly and kind, and made us feel so welcomed. I highly recommend going with a group for an event - there is something for everyone and its a large format resort that isn't cheesy or too commercial.

A beautiful vacation for all ages

We visited as a family of 3 in May 2024. My husband and I brought along our almost 2-year old daughter... so we had low expectations that we would have fun and/or relax. Our expectations were blown away! The resort is very spread out, and we enjoy walking to different areas of the resort. However, there are golf carts that drive by and take you wherever you want to go at whatever time of day. The hotel is modern, clean, and sleek. There are 2 pools, the Lagoon pool was dead and the Beach Pool was where all the action was! The poolside service has some of the best food I have had while at a resort - and Omar and Carolina were wonderful at remembering us everyday and making us feel appreciated as guests. Breakfast at Casa Milagro is REALLY yummy - and tended well to our picky eater. There are a few restaurants on the property, and Casa Amate is top notch. It was so great, we returned for a 2nd time during our week long trip. Hector was a wonderful server. My only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer. We will return for the beautiful views, the friendly service and the clean amenities!

Relaxing Family Vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We had a very relaxing family vacation (with two children ages 5 and 2) - staying a full week at the Andaz. It was a quiet week with lower occupancy during our stay, this meant restaurants were not all open or only open on select nights, but that was outweighed by the ease of access to all other amenities (chairs, reservations, shuttles, kid club, etc.). We stayed in a room with walk out beach access, which was fantastic for "nap time" as the adults were able to enjoy peaceful beach views from the patio / private beach while the kids napped right behind us. The location also meant that we had a few noisy nights due to evening events that took place on the beach for weddings and parties - (all wrapped by 11, but pretty noisy for small kids that go to bed on the early side). That said, the proximity to beach and pool outweighed the three noisy nights. I especially want to thank Alex Flores (our favorite shuttle driver) who connected with my son and made us feel so welcome, Alejandra (the lead breakfast chef at Cocina Milagro) who made special pancakes for our daughter several mornings to accommodate allergy needs, Izamar Soto (our "butler" who made sure we had everything we needed all week), and Omar (our poolside waiter who anticipated our schedules and made sure smoothies and lunches were served just as soon as restaurants opened; since we had small hungry kids). The restaurant staff were all diligent about food allergies (which both our children have) which I was so thankful for. Overall, we had a great week - it was time to slow down and spend quality time together in a beautiful setting.

Worth it

This was our second time at the Andaz this year. Mayakoba is a truly special place. They’ve retained the natural beauty of Mexico’s lagoons and vegetation. We enjoy dinners on the beach at Sotavento. Casa Amate always provided a unique dining experience accompanied by unique decor. We brought our dog, Coco. They treated her like family by equipping our suite with a dog bed and bowl. Every restaurant provided water for her and everyone knew her name. No other hotel ever made us feel as comfortable bringing her with us. There are a few people I’d like to recognize, Alex Flores and Jean Pierre and the concierge, Teresa. Each anticipated or responded to our needs in advance. We will continue to vacation at the Andaz Mayakoba. Service requests while in the room were immediate. I haven’t found a hotel that compares even though we’ve stayed at multiple Ritz and JW Marriott properties throughout Florida and Mexico.
