Atelier is a lovely resort with great views, great food, great amenities, and a fun experience. I went with my wife and our 20 year old son. He had a great experience too. The pools were excellent and we loved the swim up bar and the excellent staff who took our drink orders and food orders. The only thing we did not like is their crappy restaurant reservation system. I've only been to 2 other Cancun resorts, Villa Del Palmar and Garza Blanca. At both of those resorts, I could book all our reservations 1 month in advance. If we needed to change our reservations, even the day of, it was never a problem. At Atelier, you could only book your reservations 3 days in advance with the reservations opening at 12am. If you missed your window? Good luck as it was either a crappy time or no availability. The last few nights of our 7 day vacation we would fall asleep before midnight and then the morning of we would try to book a reservation, and it was all terrible times or we couldn't book a reservation at our desired restaurant at all. Not accommodating at all and never experienced this as Villa Del Palmar or Cancun. All in all, we did enjoy our time, but the issue with the restaurant reservations has made us decide that we will not be returning to Atelier.

This was out third time celebrating our anniversary at Atelier. And again we had an amazing time, thanks to the wonderful staff whose genuine warmth and smiles made us feel welcome everyday. Every time we came back, we felt like we came home to see our friends. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff: special thanks to Feliciano (Mercado 19/Cilento) who again tirelessly assisted us everyday, thank you for the conversations, for sharing your stories and for everything! Also Thank you: the Mercado 19/Cilento Team; Ianis/Lezlie/Ana (Hostesses) for your smiles every morning; Balbino, David, Luis, Luis 2, Carlos (Servers); Cala di Luna team: Gabriel (lunch) and Christopher (dinner); Jonas at Los Abrazos; Omar at El Suspiro; Rojas and Aristero on the beach; our maid Joana Bettrain; and last but not least Africa and Diana, the concierges who assisted us with everything we needed (and more) even before we started the trip (thank you both so much for all your help!) - J&H. Summary: I was going to give it 4 stars this time because of some issues that we had, but because it got handled promptly and the staff more than made up for it, and they deserve 5 stars. Good: - As mentioned above, the staff, as always, was amazing. - Cala di Luna was a great surprise for both lunch and dinner! We didn't go there during our previous trips. The menus were not big, but everything was delicious. - They were able to add more padding on the mattress and an extra layer of duvet so the bed wasn't too hard for me. I was very thankful for that. So if the bed is too hard for you, they can add some padding to it. - Food was still very good and plenty to choose from and the new house wine, Australian Shiraz, was good. Hiccups: - We had some plumbing issues (flood and drips on our first morning) that were fixed relatively quickly. And one day there was no water coming out at all. But this too was rectified quickly. - The beach front lounge chairs now have no cushions (I'm sure it's not a big deal for most people, but it's a deal breaker for me since I can't sit on hard surface). So, we sat under a palapas which was actually better. - This time, there were more people playing music from their speakers/phones, gone were the tranquility when you could just listen to the sound of the ocean. Sometimes, we would hear three different music from people's speakers, plus the pool music... - Takeshi was closed for renovation. We loved the atmosphere there, so we were bummed. However, they served 3 Takeshi entrees at Kopai (Pad Thai, Mongolian Beef and the lamb I think), just ask for it. - Network was down one afternoon, but got fixed within a couple of hours. Tips: - The coffee shop in building 3 has cakes! I love desserts, so we went there regularly to get a few pieces of cakes after lunch. - Bring mosquito spray, the kind with deet and insect bite cream. And if you are allergic to insect bites like me, bring Benadryl. The spray does not help completely though. They are small and stealth! We bathed ourselves in it every night, but I still got so many bites which are nasty. - Los Abrazos and Kopai were booked up very quickly. One time, I got on the website at 12:30AM instead of midnight...(yes AM!), there were only a few availabilities at Los Abrazos, either 6pm or after 8:30pm (for two days after) and this is a low season. So, if you are there during the high season, and want to get into those restaurants (Los Abrazos and Takeshi), you might need to do it at midnight (two days before). - Your hotel login (for restaurant reservations, ordering room service etc..) stops working the morning of your departure, so you can't use it to order room service anymore. You can still call to order, but you won't have the menu to look at. Not sure if you can order it the night before though. - Silent Disco was so much fun! We'd never done it before but heard so many people talk about it. We don't usually party (we love music though) but this was awesome. We can't wait to go back!

We absolutely LOVED our time at Atelier. This was our 2nd visit and we plan to come back at least one time each year. Brandon and Pingting were the BEST! They were super accommodating & anticipated our every need before we did. They helped to make this experience so relaxing and just perfect in every way. We’ll request them for our next trip for sure!

Went for our 28th wedding Anniversary... we stayed in the Inspira Rooftop Suites and it was magical.... the food and room where excellent... but the attention to detail we received from our butler's Ailene & Victor made the trip even more magical... can't wait to see them again and visit Atelier Playa Mujeres again.
