An oasis in the Algarve/ noisy street

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Bela Vista is a true Oasis in the Algarve region. Centrally located with beautiful amenities including a pool that overlooks the beach. It is a trip back in time with original Portuguese tile, wood and the main house belonging to the royal family of Portugal. They say it is the first hotel in the Algarve. The modern house in the side is where we stayed which features terraces with ocean view rooms. The real stand out is the service. They could not have been more attentive to our needs and did so with a smile. The breakfast was fantastic outside on the terrace with ocean views each morning. We had dinner in the bistro in the gorgeous bar that was sublime. Centrally located to all that the Algarve has to offer. 30 minutes to Lagos and within one hour of everything you want to reach on the coast. The one major negative was the street that it was located on was a loud party street that did not match the caliber of the hotel. The noise was manageable but I didn’t see how that is a problem. I feel bad for the hotel because they were there first. Also they should not charge 20 euro a day for parking on their own property but they did always have the car waiting with fresh water. It was perfection otherwise and is a true five star hotel but you do need to be aware of the street it is located on. It felt out of place.

Fabulous Bela Vista Hotel

One of the finest hotels we have stayed. The service is outstanding, personal, and always available. Our suite was the Owners suite and we were amazed at the fabulous decor here and thruout the hotel. The Bistro dining experience was complimented by Patricia’s friendly service.

Enjoyed our three-night stay as part of an anniversary trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Surely this is the jewel of Praia da Rocha. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay as part of an anniversary trip. The staff made it very special. They were very friendly and professional. The meals and accommodations were wonderful. If you are booking a reservation, ask for an ocean view. Not all of the rooms have such a view. Also, beware of the birds on the restaurant deck during breakfast. They'll dive in for a bite if you go inside to revisit the well-stocked buffet. The pool area is very nice, and the property is a short walk to the beach.

Can you love a hotel and hate the room? no doubt it’s a stunning property. Beautiful ocean views and landscape along alo

This is a beautiful property located above the Bluffs have a stunning beach. The main hotel itself is stunning. So you can imagine my disappointment when I was given a room that faced at hedge and a wall on the walkway. Room 201 or 202 I would avoid all costs, not only do you have to go to the corner of your patio to see the ocean but you get this horrible piped in music from my speaker that’s located at the corner of the pool. The music goes on and on until late in the evening, even when no one is by the pool. I’ve asked him to turn it down, but they seem reluctant to do so. I’m a solo female traveler, and I also be put on the ground floor is insensitive to the safety of a woman traveling alone

Disappointing for the expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Disappointing for the lack of hot water (!!) Despite the pretty palace, with the old tiles of the stairs and common areas in the bar, the room I had was small and uncomfortable for many aspects: first of all the water in the bathroom was cold. Completely cold! I had a chill shower! I told the guys and the day after they said they had fixed it, but it was warm only for few seconds, then back to cold. One day I had to shower in a different room from mine. That was annoying and uncomfortable. Second, the ac was very noisy and I could not sleep well because the noise was waking me up. Third, the Bistro restaurant has a limited menu and not very good. Only the warm bread with their oil is worth it. The starred restaurant Vista is fabulous, and really the only reason for which I’d go back there. But you can dine there even without sleeping in the hotel. Also, on the website there’s the image of the hotel in front of a wild beach, deserted, but that’s not what you find in reality: the beach is huge, but full of noisy sport activities and even in April there were umbrellas/beds for rent, but the hotel doesn’t have his own private beach, that’s uncomfortable. Also the stairs to reach the beach are very steep, coming back is a challenge!! And the hotel is surrounded by ugly, abandoned buildings or discoteques, so by night can be noisy. Or by modern high buildings with no charme. The last night they gave me a nice room on the corner, with a nice balcony, but still it did not have hot water!!! The pool is nice but I did not dive in because it was cold, they do not heat the water, so it’s usable only in summer. The spa is very small, and the pool does not have a good water jet. The breakfast is very good, fantastic pasteis de nata! The best I tried. The girls are very kind and assisted me with everything, but the water remained cold and in a 5 stars hotel member of Relais&Chateaux it is unacceptable. All in all, I wouldn’t go back there, because it’s not worth the money they ask and there are other resorts much more comfortable in other places not far.
