Reviews for Portland Harbor Hotel

Excellent location for this beautiful hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We found this hotel to be everything that we expected from the excellent reviews. The location was ideal for walking around this beautiful historic city. The rooms were large enough to enjoy and the view from the window the beautiful brick buildings and the harbor in the distance. We were impressed with the cleans of the hotel and all its amenities.

A wonderful hotel in a pleasant city

This is a first rate hotel, with a great restaurant for breakfast. We found the rooms, clean, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, as was lunch. This place is located right near the docks where some excellent lobster restaurants await, along with a good delicatessan and a variety of fun shops. The downtown area is primarily uphill and behind, though easily accessible. We took a courtyard room for the quiet and it was just that, quiet.

Nice place, great location

Wonderful staff, comfortable and pleasant environment. Room was comfortable but the bed could have been more comfortable. During our stay the restaurant didn’t perform well. The waitstaff were great but the kitchen output was not up to par. It was the weekend of the snow/ice storm so we suspected some staff were not available. Those who were there though were terrific and clearly were trying their best in a difficult situation.

Great spacious room

Park your car with the valet, take the lift to the lobby, and check in. Everything is smooth, efficient, and polished -- the convenience and the staff. I got a spacious room overlooking the "igloo." The room has a wardrobe with iron, a desk with power a d room for my laptop, good amenities in the bathroom, and an alarm clock with USB power outlets. The latter were sufficient to charge my phone and tablet simultaneously. By the lift is a station that proveds water, apples, oat bars, and coffee. That's a nice touch. Breakfast wasn't included in my room rate, so I went to Becky's Diner, a 5 minute walk away. And at night, $3 Dewey is just 2 minute walk from the hotel. The $45 per night for valet parking seems a rip off There's a public car park next door with plenty of space, but overnight parking is forbidden. However, the valet told me they use it when their own, smaller, car park is full!

We love PHH and stay here whenever we can. Love the location and super convenient valet parking. Walk to Merrill Auditorium and lots of great shopping and dining. Rooms are clean and comfortable, meals are great and staff is polite and friendly.
