I find the room which is sold as a river view room to be deceiptful. The room is on a pedestrian walk and it’s people walking outside and making noise while we are sitting on our bed. The room and hotel is old and run down. We won’t be able to sleep tonight from the noise and the fear of getting robbed by one of the pedestrians. It cost $750/night. I would be upset if it cost $250 per night for a room like this …… what a disappointment.

The property needs an update. We can not open the windows in the room when the room was getting very muggy. Also the air condition was not working well despite multiple reminders to the staff. It was not efficient even after "fixing" the air condition problems The response from the maintenance staff was very slow when we asked the front desk to fix the problem

We selected the best room with the river view. The view was phenomenal. The street below was buzzing with activity, people, and music. While the view was good, there were several issues with the hotel services. First, the housekeeping is abysmal. Pillows get thrown on chairs, the night slippers along with the slipper sheets (placed underneath the slippers) were left as is rather shoved in a corner, empty water bottles were not cleared and replenished. Second, the internet service was down most of the time. No amount of technician visits over 3 days of stay help fix the problem. We were told “it is what it is”!!! To compensate we were treated to a free dinner but it does not take away the struggles we faced emailing simple documents during our stay. The hotel while charging a bomb for the room can do much better on both the above services.

Spent over two weeks in Portugal and this was the most disappointing hotel. Standard rooms face an alley and our room had construction scaffolding right outside. We booked months ago and were not a late night check in as room should have been given out as last resort. We paid to be upgraded to river view. Not hotel issue but very crowded and loud outside as many people eating and partying by the river so lots of noise if you keep windows open. Breakfast was not very good and first day a large group must have come through and eaten almost everything. I had made reservations for three rooms and two of the couples skipped the breakfast. Housekeeping has to 5:30 to clean so if unlucky as we were when we took a break from being out all day to get ready for dinner was a little difficult. All 6 of us agreed not the best rooms or experience of all the places we stayed

The hotel itself is awesome but the front desk staff, particularly Goncarlo Barbosa, went above and beyond in his role, to help give us an exceptional experience. From restaurant recommendations, to booking tours to simply being friendly and helpful it has been an outstanding experience.
