Graduate Hotel in Rhode Island is dirty and broken up: Stay away!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

I have stayed and Motel 6s that were in much better condition than this hotel. Please stay away! The elevators were malfunctioning (2 people were stuck in them!!). The bathroom stank to sweat because the shower curtain had never been washed or changed. The toilet was old and dirty, including the toilet seat!! I walked into the hotel my first night and.... there was a toenail clipping right on the floor in front of the door. I was there for a conference, and could not wait to get away from this place!!! I just hope I did not get bedbugs! That is the feeling I got after staying here! Do your self and your family a favor and stay away!!

Avoid at all costs - worst hotel stay in 20 years

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I am a very frequent traveler. 1 Million mile + airline status as well as Titanium level status with a few hotel major chains. That said, I have written very, very few negative reviews of hotels. But, this time, I feel compelled to write This is without question the single WORST hotel experience I have had in two decades There was no ventilation system working. NO heat, cooling or fan. The windows were sealed. The evenings felt like a steam bath in the room it was so humid. The in-room coffee is very low-quality instant, not even ground but just cracked into chunks. Disgusting. The lobby coffee shop got my very simple order wrong not once but twice The internet connection was maddeningly slow. The ice machines are unplugged. When i plugged the one on my floor in, it diod not work, even after 24 hours The hotel itself is very tired. In a 17 story hotel, with our conference of several hundred people talking place on the 17th and 18th floor, two of four elevators were simply not working at all for the entire conference. Long lines took 30 minutes to service everyone The two working elevators were creaky, and interminably slow. I could literally wait 10 minutes for the elevator. A colleague was STUCK INSIDE one elevator for 15 minutes, and it "dropped" 3 times, causing her to have a panic attack and hyper-ventilate They were very cheap with the breakfast service. Once they ran out of food, there was no breakfast to be found. On the morning of checkout, with hundreds leaving, they had no bellman. Avoid this place at all costs

Excellent hotel in downtown Providence

If you are seeking a memorable and unusual experience in downtown Providence, take a look at the Graduate Hotel. This very well maintained hotel is over 100 years old, in an very central location and has many unexpected quirky features that are absolutely delightful. From the bright and colorful lobby, to the antique styled "rotary" phones and alarm clocks to the clam wallpaper and framed photos on the walls, this hotel is a delight.

Magnificent location

Feels regal although the decor is a little overboard. The intricate designs in the ceilings and the big windows are worth the stay.

Old hotel should come with warnings

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Upon check-in, I was informed that the rooms have no air conditioning or heating. Not providing HVAC at this level of hotel cost is not acceptable without notification. I should have been emailed prior to check in to inform me about the lack of HVAC. I could’ve decided myself whether to switch hotels. Also, all of the elevators were broken, except for one. So guests had to wait for 20 minutes or more to get on an elevator. Not great. Also, there was a wedding at the hotel, and some of the young people thought it was funny to call rooms in the middle of the night. I asked the front desk to block my phone number. Their system was not able to do this, so I had to dig around in the middle of the night to unplug the phone from the wall.
