Reviews for The Ritz-Carlton, Turks & Caicos

Not Worth It

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We were expecting a luxe experience and this hotel is FAR from that. In no particular order. Ordered a bottle to room of wine had a cork but comes with no corkscrew. The room while large has no lounge on the huge terrace, only two cheap wicker chairs! Why have a terrace with no lounge? The room has two ugly wicker chairs but no table to eat or work at!!! Really!!! It only has a tiny end table that couldn’t handle a room service delivery. If you are planning on using a laptop, you won’t be able to! The “closet” is a Formica thing that they stupidly put the hanging rods so low inside that the clothes hit the shelves so they wrinkle. Why have a rod that is over a foot from the inside top of the “closet”? The robes were both small size!! Wouldn’t they assume a man was staying there that can’t squeeze into a small? Room service has a $10 delivery charge no matter what you order. Too much empty space in the room. Super disappointed. Will tell our travel agent and friends to not waste money here. This room is not worth $2,000 per night, and in our option seems that this hotel feels like a Hyatt test the shoved a Ritz sign on to charge 2-3x the rate.

Beautiful hotel with overpriced food and mixed service.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I traveled with my sister; we are both in our thirties. The resort was really beautiful. We were upgraded to an enormous room that had a beautiful view of the ocean and a patio. There are diptyque products in the rooms. The pool area has two pools, one for adults only and one that is kid-friendly. At the adult only pool, the best chairs are only for their cabana service which is incredibly expensive. This pool area wasn't very big, so would fill up and then the reservation only chairs would be empty. Seemed kind of silly to take up that much space in a relatively small pool area. The breakfast was good not great. The turkey wrap at lunch was honestly the best food item. I later learned that much of the food on Turks and Caicos is overpriced and that was certainly true at this resort. We had dinner at the sushi place in the lobby, Noori, our first night, and I would not recommend as it was mediocre and very expensive, though there was a nice vibe at the bar area. The coffee bar at the front of the resort is a nice less costly (but still expensive) option for breakfast, and I would definitely go to the grocery story (Graceway Gourmet) and stock your room mini fridge with drinks and snacks. I would recommend the following restaurants nearby in lieu of certainly dinner and maybe other meals at this hotel: the Farm (at the resort next door), Castwaways, and Turks Kebab. If you want to take a taxi, sometimes the restaurant staff will call one for you, which is really helpful. The service at the pool and beach was OK, not great given the caliber of the resort. Also, the bathroom by the pool had flushing issues the entire time we were there. I will say that the front entrance staff were really helpful when our transport to the airport was late and were also really nice. We also had good experiences with wait staff at Casa Nonna.

Coming Back to Turks & Caicos and staying again at the Ritz Carlton

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

My wife, daughter and I returned for our 3rd visit in the last 15 months to the Ritz Carlton in last week. Our decision to return was largely due to the incredibly friendly and helpful folks who work there and the great service that we have always received. My wife and I are each Lifetime Titanium Bonvoy members and of the many Marriott, Ritz and other Bonvoy properties that we have stayed, this has become one of our all-time favorites. When we decided to come back, we reached out to Noelia, the Front of House Manager who has always been amazing to us and who we’ve known since she worked at the Marriott Grand Cayman. We also worked with Kartik Chhabra who is the Reservations Supervisor to help us when we considered getting a second room in the hotel, or in the Ritz Carlton Residences which are right next door. (He also showed us a few rooms in the Residences while we were there…and they are beautiful with full kitchens and a lot of space….) In addition, we worked with Florence, the Guest Relations Supervisor who has been so helpful to us on our past trips. And once more she came through for us in many ways including suggesting a rental car place, different trip options, great restaurants, and helping us with reservations. Although the hotel was very full, we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a beautiful room and there was fresh fruit waiting for us when we checked in. But even getting out of the taxi from the airport, we were welcomed back by Mark and Richie (who took our bags and made taxi reservations for us throughout our stay.) We also saw many of the folks who helped on our last two trips including James, the Recreation Manager, John-By, a Supervisor in their Coralli restaurant who amazingly remembered my daughter’s food allergies, and multiple servers we’ve had before including Javin, Peter and JP. We were also warmly welcomed as we had dinner that night at Noori by Louella, the General Manager and Varun, the Director of Food and Beverage. One thing worth mentioning is that Noori, the open bar restaurant/lounge in the lobby has the best burger we’ve had in Turks and some great dishes such as potstickers and their seared salmon poke bowl…..and one day my daughter asked if they could modify the poke bowl dish with grilled shrimp…they did and it was delicious. Other notes for travelers – We always book Sky-Pass when we are coming into the island so we can get through customs as fast as possible and get to the beach. This year, without realizing it, I booked it through Viator instead of booking it directly through Sky-Pass Caribbean. That was an error on my part…first I never received a confirmation from them so I had to call them directly and have them send it to me. Then on Jan 30th, the day before we were departing, I got a text from Christine at Sky Pass informing me that my reservation was for a Fast Pass Departure, not for an arrival. Thank goodness for her text. I explained that we were arriving in Turks that day, not departing and Christine quickly fixed the issue. Perhaps this was user error, but in the future, I will be sure to book with Sky-Pass directly and to be sure that everything is set up correctly. We may also book our future departures with them…yesterday we waited over a half hour to get through customs for our 3:21 PM flight… We also took a great boat ride from Rising Tide Tours. We got on the boat at the Blue Haven Marina which is about 5 minutes past the Ritz. While we didn’t snorkel this time as the water was a little choppy, we did visit Noah’s Ark – a bar/restaurant which is in the water and has outdoor swings and areas to hang out in the water too. They have food and drinks there. We also went to Half Moon Bay and then took a tour in many of the canals with beautiful blue water and very nice houses. We saw some turtles and mostly just chilled out as the owner, Cheno drove us around to the different places. Back to the Ritz: In addition to the Adult pool and family pool with Cabanas, we have always been able to get chairs at the beach, even when we come late in the day. The beach was as beautiful as ever with its beautiful turquoise color water, but due to high winds much of the week, we spent more time in the warm waters of the Adult pool….. Our best 2 meals on the island this visit were at the Almond Tree at the Shore Club. At the Almond tree we loved the macaroni, the barbecued ribs and the lasagna. We thought the margarita pizza was fair. But the Apple Crisp for dessert was very good. We had a very nice dinner at Grace’s Cottage, a French restaurant also in walking distance. We had the steak frites which is always great, the French onion soup which was good, the beef bourguignon which was good but not as good as the steak frites, the grilled lobster and the endive salad. Both waiters were good, but Jean was outstanding (he called himself outstanding Jean!) We had a decent experience at Coco Bistro which used to be our favorite. They changed the menu recently and we preferred the old menu from our previous visits. The blackened Mahi was quite good, the grilled salmon with coconut rice was good but not as good as the old miso glazed salmon dish.…We wanted to have an outdoor dinner one night at Magnolia but the weather was so windy that day that we cancelled it….maybe next time. All in all, the only real issue we had was the weather which was not so wonderful on this vacation. But we know that was an anomaly so given the beautiful beach, the warm pools and the friendly and helpful people working at the Ritz, we know we’ll be back 😊

Dream vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

People at reception, beach , restaurant ,casino and room service are very nice 👍🏼 Food is also delicious 😋 We were staying at the residence and it was the perfection 👌🏼 Very well furnished with everything you need, confortable bed and clean . Room service was amazing it’s a 200/100 👌🏼 Our experience was one of the best but the only thing that was bad was the loud music coming out from across the street of the ritz. Very loud music until 3 Am every night .

Humanity at its best

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Even though our stay ultimately didn’t happen due to an unexpected family emergency, I felt compelled to leave a review. From the moment we reached out, the leadership and team at the Ritz-Carlton Turks & Caicos responded with kindness, empathy, and a level of care that is increasingly rare. We heard personally from the General Manager, and the compassion shown during a very difficult moment meant more to us than I can properly put into words. True luxury isn’t just beautiful property or amenities—it’s how people are treated when life doesn’t go as planned. This team embodies that definition completely. When the time is right, we look forward to visiting and experiencing the resort in person. Until then, we are deeply grateful.
