My son and I had a one-night stay at GH Shanghai in June. It was our first ever trip to China and GH Shanghai did not disappoint. We booked Diplomat Suite with cash + SUA and upon checking in in Hyatt app, noticed that we were upgraded to Presidential Suite on the 83rd floor!! Upon arriving at the hotel, staff member helped with our luggage and brought it to our suite. Check-in was on the 83rd floor (club lounge) and the nice staff there mentioned that they've upgraded us to Presidential Suite since it has better views than the Diplomat suite. Really appreciate their attentiveness for the upgrade. Views were amazing, especially at night, we did not want to leave! We had breakfast at the main restaurant, decent for a Grand Hyatt hotel before heading out to the hotel. Location is great, we walked around the area at night and noticed lots of shops and restaurants nearby.

I had a wonderful one-night stay at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai, made truly special by the outstanding service from their staff. From the moment I booked, the communication was excellent, and I’d especially like to thank Joie for helping arrange my stay seamlessly. Since I had an early morning flight, the team went above and beyond to accommodate me by organizing a suite—a gesture I truly appreciated. Upon check-in, Rhea was incredibly welcoming, ensuring a fast and smooth process. She also gave me fantastic recommendations on where to find last-minute gifts for my family, which was a huge help! The hotel itself is stunning, with luxurious amenities and breathtaking views. But what stood out most was the genuine warmth and attentiveness of the staff. Their hospitality made my short stay feel personalized and effortless. I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt Shanghai and look forward to staying here again. Thank you to the entire team for such a great experience!

I'm a very dedicated Grand Hyatt customer all over the world but the Shanghai Grand Hyatt is the worst. The service is so bad not even a good morning or how are you today. The front entrance staff would not even help me with my. luggage to open the door or help me in the revolving door with 2pcs of luggage. The food was so nasty in the morning breakfast it was cold eggs, hash browns and bacon. The rooms were so dated that the USB1.0 ports don't even work. The toilet has no bum gun! The staff were just plain lazy and tons of apathy. I asked the front desk who was the GM they didn't even know the GM's name. For an international hotel they should have some command of English. I ended up wasting time with Google translate.

The hotel actually exceeded my expectations as I read reviews about poor food quality , and no more stay at the hotel etc etc but my overall stay turned out better than what I have expected. I attended a Conference at the hotel so I gathered I will just brace myself for a stay but I would say that it turned out to be a hidden gem. The concierge service is great as we were guided on how to take the metro and cab services. Will definitely stay again.

Highlights: the VIEWS are spectacular; great location in central Shanghai, near the Bund, one train stop away from East Nanjing avenue. Very good breakfast. Staff are helpful. Great value for the money, a room like this in NYC would have cost 5-10x the price. Negatives: the rooms are definitely dated, especially all the marble and gold finishes in the bathroom. If you are looking for a really modern vibe and care a lot about classy design, then look elsewhere.
