Grand Hyatt Shanghai

We were surprised to see that food selection was very limited in the breakfast and the club lounge. There were so many dishes containing mushrooms which was an allergen to my husband. The western style breakfast was a simple repetition of the same dishes we saw in the club lounge the previous night. The taste of bakery was stale and was not fresh. We had stayed at Mandarin oriental Shanghai and its breakfast was far superior than we had at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai. The service in the club lounge was minimal. Tables were not cleaned fast enough, the staff weren’t welcoming, the guy at noodle bar was clearly not happy, everyday we were there. The staff at the Japanese restaurant tried to wave us away and talked to us across the dining room because they thought we were dinners wandering for the dinner buffet. The Japanese restaurant dishes were disappointing as well. The shrimps on the skewers were not prepared correctly and the mud-lines were not cleaned. The only person made us feel welcomed was the lady worked at the wonton bar during breakfast.

Housekeeping should have got the maintenance to solve this before I checked in but NO. This was not done. FAILED... Blind was damaged from the start with some tearing... either u replace or use other options... NOT so convenient to undress when taking a bath as you have other building opposite.

Grand Hyatt Shanghai is definitely one of Shanghai’s skyline landmarks, and the building itself is impressive. The location in Jin Mao Tower is also very convenient, and overall the property feels worth experiencing at least once. We stayed on the 72nd floor, and the room itself was comfortable. However, I was disappointed with the view, as it didn’t face the Bund or the Oriental Pearl Tower, which I had specifically requested in advance. Since our booking included upgrade eligibility, I was hoping for a better skyline view, but it wasn’t met. Unfortunately, the biggest downside of our stay was the front desk service. The check-in experience felt unfriendly and lacked professionalism, and the communication was poor throughout the process. In addition, as World of Hyatt members, the benefits we were entitled to were not properly explained or clearly handled at check-in, which significantly affected our overall impression. The hotel has strong potential because the facilities and atmosphere are great, but the service at the front desk did not meet expectations for a Grand Hyatt property.

A very disappointing stay due to poor follow-through. Staff mistakenly took my infant's personal utensils. The manager promised complimentary breakfasts as compensation, but I was charged on my credit card after checkout. Emails have gone unanswered for a week. Furthermore, on checkout day, I left an item in the room. The front desk said they would retrieve it after my meal, but an hour later, it wasn't ready. I waited 15 minutes in the lobby with no update, forcing me to leave for my flight without it. Frustrating experience.

Front desk was busy even though it was late and it took a while to get the room. But other than that it was great stay
