Hotel Mousai

Janette is an incredibly friendly waitress, and gave us great recommendations for food at the restaurant she worked (NOI breakfast) and also for activities in Puerto Vallarta. She enhanced our experience alongside her colleague Christian (who provided plentiful banana bread). We recommend sticking to the Mexican dishes and fresh fruit, which are all sweetened by the wonderful staff.

Fantastic experience with great hospitality. Ernesto on the Norte roof top made our experience amazing every day at the pool!!!! Miguel also made the experience special by coordinating with me to get flowers and champagne delivered.

(Cross posted with Garza Blanca) On my way home from Hotel Mousai at Garza Blanca Preserve & Resort and wanted to post while fresh in my mind. Overall it is a beautiful property, well maintained and very welcoming and sweet staff. No other resort in Mexico has come close to Xcaret Arte and this has been the closest so far. My only complaint is the time share sweatshop that is part of the property. Arriving at 9p at night I wanted to check in and go have dinner. Instead I was forced to listen to the concierge pitch me on making an appointment for their residences which is a glorified time share. As much as they will argue it is different, I have a timeshare with Marriott and it is the same thing, a points based system that you can trade for use else where. With the standard buy now or the deal is gone forever. As hesitant as I was to attend, we were offered some comps for our time so we decided to spend the 75 minutes to listen. That 75 minutes was closer to 180 minutes (plus breakfast with sales manager + 1 hour), spoiler alert, you will get two more final offers after you decline the first time. Also do the math, they keep reducing the price to fit your budget but the value per point drops dramatically so it actually costs you more. As a person with a deep finance education, it’s smoke and mirrors. The point that rubs me is the comps we were given were not as promised. The free dinner at Karuma was actually a $45 value which doesn’t even cover an entree forget a side, appetizer or glass of wine. And the free ride back to the airport was not honored. So really if you decide to partake I would demand the comps clearly in writing (no shorthand) and given to you immediately. Don’t trust them to honor later as that is their tactic to bait and switch. Just decline that whole cluster of a sales pitch, after all you are wasting half a day of vacation to save what amounts to $200 +/-in the end. The resort itself is great. I recommend Mousai over Garza as it is newer and you have access to the rooftop pools which are very quiet and enjoyable. Mousai is the adults only section of Garza and sits at the very top of the mountain which the resort is built into. The beach access is great, food wise I recommend the Japanese restaurant and Chinese restaurant. Their steak house Bocatos is a total skip. Also their Mexican drinks (margaritas, daquaries, mojitos, etc as well as tequila options are all amazing, the Americanized drinks are a pass). Highly recommend buying the all inclusive pass, it seems like a lot of money upfront but the food and drinks are extremely pricey (makes Atlantis look cheap) and portions are very small. With the all inclusive you will easily break even to saving money by having two meals a day at the resort with a couple drinks. In summary beautiful resort, very friendly staff. Shady time share sales which is a shame for a 5 diamond property and pay for Rhythms of the Night from your own pocket.

My husband and I are absolutely in love with Hotel Mousai. We started coming here about 5 years ago and have continued to come in August of each year. The staff, experience, restaurants are hands down phenomenal. What sets this hotel apart is the staff and the people, many of whom we have gotten to know on a personal level!!! They go out of their way to make your vacation feel like a true getaway!

We had dinner at Hiroshi tonight for our anniversary and it was the best experience of our vacation. Paola was so welcoming and getting us settled and Miguel and Alejandro made sure our glasses were always full and giving us the best recommendations in regard to appetizers, sushi, and dessert. They even made us a lovely plate of fruit and white chocolate truffles for our anniversary. Would absolutely come back again! Wonderful food and an amazing service!
