5 Star Experience at a 5 Star Resort & Spa!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I have been meaning to write this review for a very long while but health issues have distracted me. I feel so strongly about how incredible our experience was that I really want to show my gratefulness and appreciation for the upmost professional, thoughtful, kind and continuous effort to go above & beyond from the entire team at Sagecliffe during our stay. We stayed for 6 days and 5 nights at the gorgeous property and feel we could have stayed longer. So much beauty to take in and delights from wine to bubbles to tasty food. It all started with my reservation with the caring assistance from Neidi (and a fellow whom booked my dates/I misplaced his name) she went over the available & different options from Yurts (individual spots with drive up access), Cavern Rooms (luxurious hotel rooms), Cliffhouses (top of the line for me at Sagecliffe-you feel like you are in a very special retreat home yet close to everything that the resort has to offer, condos (1bedroom) to the Lakehouses (2 bedrooms+). We have stayed in the main building (no longer available) a couple of times over the past 10yrs & cliffhouse. Plus had the pleasure of joining friends at the condos (great for couples) & Lakehouse (gorgeous new homes for more than 2ppl) but we still have not tried a Yurt. Based on our needs for this particular music weekend we really wanted to take in the expanding views but also be tucked away from the heart of the action. The Yurt we stayed in was perfect! View was outstanding and just a short walk or 1min drive to the pool and Tendrils. It was huge, romantic and I loved how private it was! Big roomy bathroom, great shower, plenty of towels, it had a great place for a little kitchen set up (we brought a few things) with a larger fridge (which was the golden ticket!) The center skyline to look up and see the stars was the highlight. It got super windy one day and the winds ripped thru the hills, while it blew the Yurt quiet a bit it was very exciting and we slept thru it no problem. I mean you are in the desert and it is expected to enjoy this special place of serenity. I would absolutely stay in this yurt again our trip was flawless. Our stay at the Cliffhouse was really special and we loved being so close to everything with views for days! These in my opinion are the best for your overall resort experience! Short walk to everything you need! I could rave forever about this amazing property and the yearly transformations that have taken place over the years with the best yet to come I feel, but I will finish by saying that over and above it all our experience would not have been as it was if it hadn't been for the incredible staff working so hard daily to keep this gorgeous property as it is. They truly are hard working and truly care. We were welcomed by the awesome Neidi at the Front Desk and ensured all our needs were met, questions answered, pool cabana booked, dining reservations, welcome package and that our stay would be perfect! To top it all off we were met by Christie Gilbert our concierge & contact (she even gave us her number to call/text if we needed anything)..she had our Club welcome gift (which was the best!!) and seriously took care of anything we could desire. Her personal assistance with the gorge event and going beyond to help make our experience nothing more than perfect is what makes Christie stand apart! She seriously blew me away with her efforts and kindness! Unmatched in this industry and I would definitely say that Christie and her team are the main assets of this property. Christie set us up like true Club VIP's (we didn't hesitate years ago & joined the very moment it was offered-FAB idea!) and we were blown away all week! So grateful! Without them all working together, making a difference and a positive impact on this beautiful spa & resort year after year..that's all it would be..just another resort & spa with a great view. It been a long journey for this property and I can say without a doubt the future of the Sagecliffe Resort & Spa is nothing short of exciting and spectacular with the owners ideas and these ladies leading their team! So excited we are heading today to enjoy a relaxing weekend with you all in our favorite cliffehouse! See you soon! Thank you! Thank you! We appreciated you and all you are accomplishing! Cheers, Cynthia (Cyn Finity/Music Light Walker) & Jason!

Cozy, beautiful off-season getaway with nice touches

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

My partner and I visited for two days the day after Thanksgiving. We were extremely impressed by the resort's attention to detail and the cozy vibe they created. We enjoyed several events and touches that created an excellent atmosphere -- Christmas carols and hot chocolate by the fire, free chili and queso with drinks for Apple Cup, live music Saturday night. The food at the restaurant was relatively affordable despite being the only upscale restaurant around. We went on a beautiful hike from the resort. We overall would recommend and return!

Not Worth the Price

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

It looked so elegant, isolated, wonderful, relaxing on its website. It was seductive, and it was correct on one enticement only — it was indeed isolated. Otherwise, it was distinctly not wonderful, relaxing or elegant. It was rather broken down with maintenance issues, a lousy bar, and a lousy restaurant. The views were great to sublime, but that didn’t make up for the rest. The bartender, although very friendly, was unkempt in a baggy t-shirt (the same shirt 2 days in a row), and dirty fingernails. The same man using his hands to make your drink. The restaurant was pathetic; a small menu, some of which was not available, and mediocre meals with what we had. Our “cliffefhouse private suite” had great potential but lousy upkeep. The bathroom had a damaged window that looked across to our neighbor - not exactly the view we had in mind for a nice relaxing soak in the tub. The venetian blinds were broken in the bathroom and in the entry. The bathroom tap leaked water across the counter top. The drapes did not fully cover the windows. The furniture on the patio was broken and dirty. The patio and entry were dirty. The water pressure as well as the service were sadly lacking. The reason for the lack of service, we were told, was due to Covid. We could easily have accepted that were it not for the overall lack of cleanliness - especially the old collection of dirt in the air vents. The Sagecliffe demands a high price for mediocrity. It has wonderful potential but failed to step up.

Fabulous!

I was camping at the Gorge and decided to spend some time out of the blistering heat by getting a massage. Terri Marie was my masseuse and she was SO sweet and nurturing. The music was soothing and the products she used smelled so nice. The staff at the front desk were really kind, as well. The changing room is very small, but I didn’t spend much time in there. After getting a massage I highly recommend heading to the winery to enjoy a glass of wine!! Will def. make this a routine when I go to see concerts at the Gorge!

Fantastic waitstaff

The rooms are falling apart but the servers and bartenders are amazing. The rooms only have coffee teabags (gross) and there is no coffee in the lobby until 8:30am! At least put a keurig in the lobby! Sinks were leaking all over the counter, blinds didn’t work. The rooms were a bit dirty, we actually questioned if they had even been cleaned. The property seems to have gone a down hill since my previous visit 10 years ago but the view is still amazing. The bar menu is a bummer, they are selling on the rocks brand premixed cocktails for quadruple the price of the grocery store. Food is decent but overpriced like everything else. All of the waitstaff and the bartender were absolutely amazing and so friendly, upbeat, and personable, especially Eneida!
