Terrible Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I stayed here with my daughter to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. The property itself feels quite old and outdated, which I was willing to overlook—but the service and management issues were much harder to ignore. I prepaid for the stay through the Chase travel portal. Upon arrival, I was asked for the card used for the booking and another card for incidentals. I provided my Chase card, only to later discover that I had been charged a second time for the room. Resolving this was unnecessarily difficult and took nearly two weeks. Check-in was supposed to be guaranteed at 4:00 PM. We arrived early at 3:00 PM to enjoy the grounds, but didn’t receive our room keys until 4:40 PM. This left us scrambling to drop our bags and rush to dinner. When we returned that evening, we found the bathroom floor was visibly filthy—completely unacceptable for a resort at this price point. Communication after the stay was just as frustrating. It’s nearly impossible to reach the property directly—you’re routed through a generic answering service that doesn’t seem to have any real knowledge of the resort or the ability to help. When I followed up about the double charge, I was told there was no manager available and had to wait a full week just to hear back. While they initially said they would waive the resort fee due to the condition of the room, they never followed through. After the billing was finally corrected, I was told no additional refund could be issued because the stay was “non-refundable,” despite the clear issues. To add to the frustration, we attempted to book a simple spa service (a pedicure), only to be told they were fully booked for days—something you would expect a resort to better accommodate or at least communicate in advance. Between the billing errors, poor cleanliness, lack of accountability, and inability to even reach someone who can help, this was not the relaxing birthday trip I had hoped for. We will not be returning.

Nice Place but disappointing that house keeping did return my lost item.

My husband had a meeting. I enjoyed the facility. Unfortunately I left an item in the hotel room and contacted them. They have not mailed it to me. Their information on line says they will return lost items. I'm very disappointed in the facility for not returning my item.

The Spa really is a Sanctuary

My daughter and I indulged in a 4 -night / 5-day Stress Relief Wellness Retreat. Mary, the Wellness Director could not have been more flexible in coping with our flight changes and delays! While we arrived later than anticipated, Mary made certain we had a relaxing mineral bath after getting settled in our room and enjoying the tour of the facility. Once you are in the Spa, it is a different world – quiet, peaceful, and unhurried. All the facilities are “top-notch”, but my favorite was the weight room. Anything you need is available for lifting. Each class had it’s own culture, but Mary’s class on Tuesday, Legs up the Wall, was the best class I’ve ever experienced. It didn’t take long for Mary figure what we enjoyed, and then she requested additional Legs up the Wall work to be included in the Meditation with Amy experience. Everyone in the Spa catered to us, but Shannon, the “Hands on Stretch” experience. was particularly accommodating to squeeze us in for a second time. Thank you, Shannon. We will be back!

Horrible, pathetic, exhausting and disgusting Day at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa

My daughter and I were scheduled for facials, pedicures and massages. Upon arrival we were given an itinerary, facials 9:00, pedicures 11:30, lunch 12:30 and massages at 3:00 we agreed worst facials we ever had, no exfoliation, all I got was face washing and lotion and lady asking me 3 times about purchasing products after I told her 1st time not interested, very annoying, not relaxing at all for either of us. Then we had to wait 1 1/2 hours to get pedicures, to be told only my daughter would be getting one because there was no one to do mine The spa manager said she was sorry but nothing could be done about it, even though 4 ladies walked in while this was going on and taken right back, I was livid. Once my daughter was done, she said the person refused to clip her toenails saying due to HIV hazard! My daughter doesn’t have HIV!! She said she has had better pedicure at a mall. After lunch, which was mediocre, we then had to wait another 1 1/2 hours for massage. The manager said oh, you can use the pool, jacuzzi or sauna while you wait, we both have pools and jacuzzis! That’s not what we were there for. Scheduling these services that far apart was ludicrous!! We were there from 8:30 am to 4:10pm. Almost 8 hours to get a sorry facial and a short massage! My son had given us a gift certificate for $369 and I paid an additional $345, totalling $714.00 for a day of misery!! The spa manager was kind enough (lol) to refund $210! My daughter said she couldn’t wait to get out of there and neither could I. Would I recommend this establishment? Not on your life!! So overpriced, incompetent employees that don’t care about giving good services. It was a disaster of a day.

True relaxation and pampering

What a great place to spend a spa weekend! from the moment I arrived I was so impressed with the friendly service of Safety Harbor Resort & Spa. I participated in a 3 night 4 day wellness package and enjoyed each day filled with spa treatments, work-out sessions and great food! I would definitely recommend SHR &Spa to anyone looking for a beautiful oasis on Tampa Bay with excellent services and grounds for long walks and quaint shopping on a brick street across from the resort. The room had a tremendous view of the sunrise in the morning and comfortably large space with a great layout. It was a good value for the room, spa services and food all included.
