I had a spa day with a friend and it was by far the worst spa and massage I’ve experienced. The spa was old and dated, lots of rust and broken fixtures and construction, tons of visible black mold. The massage room wasn’t what you would expect for resort spa. Music was being played off the masseuses phone, there was a light up kids plastic fish tank, uncomfortable massage table. Then here’s where it gets really wild, the massage itself. The masseuse squinted excessive oil all over throughout the massage from a distance, was shaking my entire body violently enough that my arms were flailing at my sides for at least half the massage, was wiggling my toes, karate chopping my back, It was as if he had never done it before and made it up as he went. I’ve had hundreds of massages and none of what he did during this massage have I ever experienced elsewhere. I did contact the spa to let them know and try to remedy the situation and I can’t image anyone would ever enjoy that and that they wouldn’t want clients have a repeat of my experience. They however never responded after multiple attempts, Don’t waste your money!

What a horrible hotel. Sewage smell and nothing of any value. My wife had a horrible experience at the spa. The masseuse was so bad my wife was shaking. The room service was horrendous and nothing about this weekend was relaxing. Bathroom in our room had mold and handles were falling off. I can not express how bad this place is.

Hotel is a bit run down. Staff is friendly. Lots of work going on inside and outside. Noise in the morning right outside of the room.

My service dog and I enjoyed a staycation here last week. Despite living 15 minutes away, I chose the perfect location! I was greeted by Ms. Mary, who is warm and knowledgeable. I immediately felt at home. Yes, the resort is almost 100 years old. As a native Floridian, I would like to address some of the poor reviews I have read here. This, (along with ALL other hotels and resorts on the west coast of FL), resort has suffered REPEATED hurricane damage. THIS TAKES YEARS to repair. 🤷♀️Birds defecate, but, where else will it be a great blue heron 😉? Before you write a bad review, I encourage you to speak with the manager of the hotel (or any hotel you stay with in the west coast of FL). I promise….everyone is doing their best! I booked another week long stay for December while I was still staying at the resort. I was astounded by the level of customer service I was shown. I was never given directions, rather, escorted to my destination by a cheerful staff member. I felt as though I was staying with family. The resort offers the spring water it is built upon to drink (it is delicious), for use with treatments, etc. The food is SCRUMPTIOUS with a variety of offerings from filet to fresh grouper. I slept like a log and the massages, mineral baths (pictured), and especially the stretch with Shannon were all fabulous. There are social events every evening in the lounge. I had great fun playing music bingo one evening. My service dog and I arrived home yesterday (I accidentally left my phone at home🫣- I didn’t need it!). The hotel was kind enough to ensure we made it home safely. We feel renewed and refreshed. Whether you are local or reading this from far away, I encourage you to visit the very special and historic Safety Harbor Resort and Spa. If you are interested in a (VERY affordable) wellness package-resident discounts 😉!- which includes all meals and treatments, or, staying and booking a la carte, I can’t recommend this resort enough. I am happy to feed our local economy and love that I felt so far away….merely 15 minutes from home. Treat yourself!

The location of this resort is lovely, but, unfortunately, it is in desperate need of an update in every way. Furniture in rooms, carpet, lamps, everything needs a refresh. Halls and common areas are very musty smelling. Customer service at the front desk by Christonapos (not sure of the spelling) was absolutely terrible and it wasn't just with my husband and me. We overheard him be rude with several other customers. Valerie was pleasant when we were finally able to check-in. I would not return to this resort.
