Beautiful grounds, hotel kindly left some chocolates and fruit as we were celebrating a graduation and birthday. Breakfast was delicious, particularly the made-to-order egg and fish dishes. Naomi was a wonderful server. Rooms are nice, staff are good, and spa/pool/gym is great. Drawback is that breakfast items were not replenished regularly enough, no turndown service (especially given the price, this should be a certainty), and doormen a little inconsistent, no offer to help with bags for example. The shuttle booked up quickly, and they didn't offer a second to make up for this.

We stayed at the Fairmont St Andrews, drawn by its stunning grounds and beautiful setting, but unfortunately, the service fell far short of expectations for a resort of this caliber. Our experience got off to a disappointing start right at the entrance. There was no one to greet us or help with our luggage, we had to unload our bags and struggle to get everything into the lobby while staff stood there and watched. This was hardly the warm welcome you’d expect from a luxury resort. Check-in did not improve things. Despite arriving at 6 p.m., there was a long line with minimal staff, making an already frustrating arrival feel even more disorganized and impersonal. While our room was clean and spacious, breakfast highlighted just how unprepared and poorly trained the staff seemed to be. There was no clear direction.Staff were literally running in circles, and guests were left waiting. We waited over 20 minutes for a simple cup of coffee and eventually had to ask a manager to intervene. We ordered food off the menu, but it never arrived until we chased it down 30 minutes later, by then it was cold and completely inedible. To make matters worse, basic buffet items ran out and were not replenished, and at one point there were no clean plates available at all. This level of chaos and lack of oversight is simply unacceptable for a resort claiming this standard. One bright spot was Karen, one of the waitresses, who was working extremely hard and did her best in the middle of the confusion. She deserves credit for trying to make up for the shortcomings around her. t’s genuinely disappointing that such a beautiful property is let down so badly by staff who are clearly not trained or managed properly. For the prices charged and the reputation this resort claims, guests should not have to lower their expectations so dramatically. We left feeling frustrated and let down, not what you expect when you book a stay at the Fairmont St Andrews.

Just back from a DBB for two nights (dinner was pre-booked at Cucina) - if taking a dog unless it could be left in the room ok then not worth paying £50 per night as can't be with you apart from the lobby bar area, although the staff are friendly towards dogs the hotel itself is not so dog friendly, we were told 'due to hygiene reasons' they are not allowed in restaurants or even the sports bar which is pretty empty most of the time, this includes La Cucina and the lower lobby open plan restaurant for breakfast. We got a phone call confirming our reservation / Cucina booking and dog presence, it wasn't explained to us at all that the dog wasn't allowed to eat with us or we wouldn't have visited. For dinner we had to eat in the lobby bar and for breakfast had to sit 50 yards along the lower lobby on our own like lepers despite the restaurant only being a quarter full at peak times.....but assistance dogs are allowed everywhere !! Crazy, a dog's a dog with similar hygiene levels !! Surely a small area could be provided. Room was good however the lack of Air Con in the communal areas including lobby bar area was very noticeable on the two hot days we were at hotel, to the point had to change into shorts.

Accomdation and place was excellent, staff very polite and efficient. Dinner in night did not have menu suitable for us as vegetarians. Staff at reception were helpful in upgrading our room to a junior suite , with extra upgrade charges of course ,

First stop of a 2 week Scottish exploration, and what a start! Beautiful hotel and grounds, our room overlooked the golf course, clubhouse and sea. Spacious, well-appointed, comfortable. Top quality linens, super comfy bed. Extravagant bre a fast buffet with cook to order available. Dinner at the clubhouse Grill was fantastic, and we were guided thru out with helpful advice from the manager. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. This is a first
