Fairmont St Andrews

We stayed at Fairmont St Andrews in August 2025 as part of a golf tour and were left extremely disappointed. Our room was uncomfortably hot, and while the first engineer who came was polite and professional, the second engineer’s behaviour was shocking. He dismissed our concerns, insisted nothing could be done, and then made the remark: “If you can’t sleep, go sleep outside.” He continued with sarcastic comments until my husband asked him to leave the room. Although the night duty manager later apologised and moved us to a different floor, this level of behaviour from staff is completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that promotes itself as a luxury property. I raised a formal complaint afterwards. While I initially received an apology and an offer of a 30% discount on a future stay, this was not a practical or appropriate resolution. Since then, my follow-up email has gone unanswered for weeks, which only adds to the disappointment. We expected professionalism, courtesy, and comfort at a hotel of this reputation, but sadly our experience fell far short.

It’s always a treat coming here. Lovely hotel, staff and food. They really know how to look after you. Hope to be back soon.

Really enjoyed our night at the Fairmont.Our room was spacious and clean.I really liked the separate bath and shower.We ate in the Kittocks bar and it was really nice.Breakfast was also really good.I Prefer the buffet style and a lot of hotels have gone away from this after COVID.Nice to see the Fairmont still have this style of breakfast All the staff were very helpful and friendly.Would definitely visit again.

We stayed at the fairmont on the 27th of august for one night, the room was very clean, reception staff friendly. The clubhouse was lovely, great setting with lovely and helpful staff. Breakfast was great with so much selection as well as fantastic service, Naomi, one of the waiting staff was very professional, friendly and personable, overall great experience with breakfast being a highlight.

We got married at Kinkell Byre (next door) and booked the Fairmont for our wedding accommodation in April 2025. My husband and I stayed in one of the suites, and we block-booked a number of rooms so that our family and wedding guests could stay at the hotel as well. We would like to give a special shoutout to Georgia in the Reservations team, who we worked closely with throughout our entire wedding planning process. We got in touch with Georgia before we had even booked our wedding, as we were also interested in the Fairmont as a potential wedding venue and had a viewing appointment with Georgia. Despite not opting for the Fairmont as our wedding venue (we decided we wanted a rustic, barn vibe instead), we stayed in touch with Georgia regularly as we were confident we would book our accommodation with the Fairmont. Georgia was professional, helpful and so easy to get a long with. She answered my many, many questions throughout the process and offered up solutions to every concern or question I had. We were even, very kindly, given a discount code to offer to our guests who were booking their rooms through our block booking. The hotel is absolutely stunning - the grounds are picturesque, the rooms spacious and well furnished, and the staff all super helpful and friendly. The breakfast area in particular is fantastic - the setup was great to enjoy the next morning with our guests, and the food delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, as did all of our wedding guests who opted to stay as well and we would highly recommend the Fairmont!
