Been coming here 1-2 times a year for years. I’ve already emailed separately around terribly slow service in Kittocks Den on Saturday afternoon. Wait staff were advising that drinks were taking 10-15 mins from order to served. Reality was 50-60 mins, which was and is wholly unacceptable. As a large Wedding was booked in for the Ballroom, the hotel was busy.. and again, not for the first time, ordinary guests’ experiences were degraded by the lack of organisation and staffing levels to cope elsewhere. It simply didn’t make sense and the hotel lost revenue in Kittocks Den that day by not being able to deliver drinks in a reasonable time. I do appreciate that by emailing about it at the time, the hotel did add a credit of a more that nominal amount in apology, which is appreciated. I also note that since my last visit Chromecast has been dropped from service options on the in-room TVs. It’s also notable that the hotel Broadband struggles to copy with IP only TV connections… lots of pixelation which corrects itself after about 10 seconds each time. That said, staff are always warm and friendly, and the rooms maintained to a high standard… still I’d if my favourite hotels in the World..but needs to resolve some if these issues that take the edge off it.

A lovely few days at the Fairmont! The staff were amazing from Josh, one of the concierges welcoming us even before we had reached the main entrance to David/Daniel (sorry can't remember) on reception. Nothing was too much for them! Room was a King superior view and was very comfortable with a nice big bed and epic bathroom featuring a large shower with rainfall head and regular head, great lighting and lots of mirrors and a huge bathtub (shame no bath foam available)! The toiletries in the bathroom however were premium products (NY brand I think) and now trying to find where to buy them from for myself! I'm very fussy on my hair products and normally hotel shampoos and conditioners strip my hair and leave it feeling like straw but these were just devine and left my hair glossy and moisturised! TV channes not that great - the ability to cast from our phones (eg Netflix, Youtube) would have been useful as very limited uk channels but lots of international channels for overseas visitors. If you are out and about all day its not so much a problem but we were in the room a chunk of hours whilst weather turned and waiting on our dinner reservation. Breakfast was delicious! Great choice and good coffee. You get to choose from the buffet and also order any additional dishes from a menu. We ate in La Cucina and whilst my dish was delicious (tagliatelle with mushrooms) the pizza my husband ordered was a little bland. I think a scottish cuisine restaurant would fit the hotels demographic and aesthetic better showcasing local farm produce and seafoods and appeal to a wider audience rather than capping food choice to italian. There are a couple bars also with bar food but nothing substantial that we saw on offer. Didnt use the spa but having been in there before can say its wonderful and lots of products to purchase if you want. Free shuttle transfer into St Andrews and back a bonus if you don't want to take your car in and pay a fortune for parking. Just book it ahead of time. Overall a great stay and would return!

Just back from a two night break with my husband for his birthday and our dog. The hotel and amenities were excellent. It is the staff who make the hotel 5 stars. Everyone so welcoming and friendly. The hotel room was super clean with all you amenities you expect including a steamer. The hotel was very dog friendly which was great for us. A large bed, bowls, litter bags and treats were available for our furry friend. He was allowed to accompany us to the kittock bar for food and drink and in the morning we had our own area to sit at breakfast. The food in both the kittock bar and in the main breakfast area was beautiful. We had the boozy brunch on the Sunday which was lovely. There was a courtesy bus available to go to town when required. My husband received a birthday gift on arrival and in the restaurant which was a nice touch. We will definitely return in the near future as it’s such a beautiful place to treat ourselves too

We had a one night stay on business in early October, using a Secret Escapes deal for dinner, bed and breakfast. The Fairmont King room was clean and comfortable with a view over the front of the hotel towards the golf course and the sea. The public areas are very impressive with a massive atrium and mezzanine level with the bar and restaurants overlooking a lower area. We found the bar service slow to the point of collecting our own drinks which were waiting for a server to bring them to us, the staff were all occupied with a large group who were dining in the bar. We didn’t use the pool or spa, but I had a quick tour and it looked very nice. Breakfast was fine, service was good with selection of buffet items and extra things that can be ordered. The setting and grounds/golf courses is lovely (and I’m not a golf person). The St Andrews bar and grill is in a separate building on the seafront. It’s a short drive into the town. My husband is keen to return and play golf.
