The Delmar loop has much more as far as restaurants and stores compared to downtown St Louis. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the decor was fun, and we were able to find free parking in the back all 3 night which was a bonus. Would stay again.

4. That is the number of times I had to request bath soap so we could shower. We checked in and found that the shower gel/soap bottle mounted to the wall in the shower was empty. This happens to us so often that I check it every time we get to a hotel and that soap bottle is attached to the wall. I checked, and found it was empty. Went down to ask the desk. She said she would tell housekeeping. Later that day, came back to find no soap. Went to ask again. "We'll send someone right up." No one arrived. Went back again the next morning and requested the soap and said that no one has come. They said they told housekeeping but they would tell them again. Like, we're about to check out of this place after 4 days and we'll be lucky if we see any soap ever. Just tell me you aren't bringing it already! Fourth time, requested soap and someone from housekeeping finally showed up. She didn't look happy because she was about to go home when they derailed her to bring us soap. After we checked out we thought that was the end of the lack o' service. But one of my kids thought they left their charger in the room. I called them and they said they would go check lost and found and get back to me. Guesssss who never called back? Anyway - other things to know. This feels like one of those boutique hotels in Europe. It's got the old factor going for it so they chalk that up as charm but it feels just...okay. Nothing remotely luxurious for the price we paid, so not sure I'd stay again. They fill their water with fruit that makes the water taste rotten, so don't bother getting water at the lobby. And they have a gorgeous rooftop bar - allegedly. We weren't ever able to go up there due to: private parties. So that also sucked.

The Moonrise has fallen sharply in quality the past two years, and it's sad because these are self-inflicted problems gone unchecked. Moonrise management, such as it is, seems to be a guy maybe 25 who feels that guests who book via third party sites for cheaper rates get views of the police station and zero maid service. Fair enough, it's your hotel, but don't sell it as an equal experience, because it's not. $900 for three nights of looking at a police station and being banished to the back 40 where maids don't dare tread is no way to treat repeat visitors. No more Moonrise for us. Abysmal management has driven a nail in that coffin.

I enjoyed the makeup mirror and the soft towels. If you're concerned about cleanliness, this is not the place for you. In the first room, the toilet was dirty, so they gave me another room. In that room the shower floor was dirty. The bed is not made properly; the sheet is just laid on top of the mattress. You may like this next part or hate it, but you should know that the entire property smells of cannabis. The single bathrobe that they provided for two people was not soft. This was an $80 experience, not an experience that costs what they charge.

We selected this hotel for its proximity to WashU and its cool location. It had comfortable beds and good water pressure but the room was tired and in need of a serious makeover. It was dirty when we arrived and we were right next to a laundry so it sounded like water was running all night. Additionally, the service and housekeeping were horrendous. We didn’t get any housekeeping services - the guy with the housekeeping cart near us reeked of weed - and, what really irked me, is instead of trying to make it right, the hotel told me I booked through a third party vendor and I needed to contact them. The third party vendor booking is not obvious on Moonrise’s website and reaching out to them just led to a runaround with neither party taking responsibility. We paid $350 per night and it was way over priced. There are many better hotels in Clayton that are a 5-10 minute Uber ride from the action!
