Reviews for Curtain Bluff

Authentic 5 star Caribbean experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We have been reading about Curtain Bluff for years, and finally made the trip this February with our family. I wish we had come sooner! This is without question the nicest resort we have experienced in the Caribbean - and we've been to many top resorts and islands. It has an authentic feel that is fancy without being pretentious, with every amenity that one could want (except TVs, which was a good thing!) The staff and many of the guests made it feel like we were staying with family. The rooms, great beaches, tennis facilities, endless watersports and exceptional food will also make us return for future vacations. A big thank you to Kevere, Blayne, Danny, Carol, Dequencia, Diana and many others for their hospitality!

Love Curtain Bluff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We recently returned from our 20th annual visit to Curtain Bluff. Such a wonderful place with the best staff. We call it our Antiguan home. The recent renovations are stunning, especially the Sea Grape reno. We look forward to the continuing updates. Lots of activities available to do or you can totally relax under your palapa or on a float in the water.

A+++, First Class Property with exceptional amenities, food and personalized service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Truly outstanding in every way. The airport reception and transfer was prompt and efficient moving quickly through immigration and into the waiting car to take us to the property where we were greeted on arrival and provided a tour of the property, amenities and our suite. The room was beautiful, sparkling clean, recently renovated and stocked with Molton Brown bath products. The views from the room are breathtaking. The spa, beach, pools, fitness center and tennis facilities were beautiful and looked brand new. The food and beverage service was similarly on-point on an excellent, even for foodies like us. What truly made the experience exceptional though were the staff. Everyone went out of their way to ensure we were having a great time and to be sure we were 100% satisfied. Mr. Sherman (longtime property manager) went out of his way to meet us and provide a personal tour and history of the property. I now know why people keep coming back here, it's a really special place.

Absolutely incredible from start to finish. Hotel immaculate, immaculately clean, food exceeded expectations. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Will definately be back. First class.

Room for improvement

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I'd like to begin this review by stating that I think the website does not accurately capture what the resort looks like in person. In reality, we were a little surprised by how shabby and dated much of the property looked like. Our stay began on a stressful note, as we were left for 30 minutes waiting in the extreme humidity at the airport curbside waiting for our driver. This was not the seamless, stress-free airport meet and greet that was advertised. Upon arrival on-site, we had to fill out forms, including returning flight information that I had already provided prior to arrival. This seemed redundant and cumbersome after a long day of travel when all we wanted was to get to our room and relax. We proceeded to be taken to, what I can only hope, was the worst room on property, with a non-functioning sink and staff service closet directly attached to the room. This room should be put out of commission for such deficits. Dinner at the Tamarind restaurant lacked the tropical resort feel we were anticipating. It is set inward on the property, away from the water which makes it feel a bit dark and uninspiring. Adding insult to injury, the evening band plays geriatric, wedding hall music. That may sound harsh, but I think anyone under 80 would agree. It was actually quite depressing. Even the band looked miserable having to play this music. Why not play something more universally appealing like soft jazz instead? We couldn't wait to finish dinner and escape it! All of the reviews that rant and rave about the staff, are also a bit perplexing. The service was prompt, albeit a bit curt at times. We certainly didn't receive the warm and fuzzy reception some of the returning guests receive. The preferential treatment observed was off putting and created a less than welcoming atmosphere. The one saving grace was the wonderful food and drinks. Usually this is where many all-inclusives fail, but Curtain Bluff gets it right. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, all exceptional. Everything was fresh, prepared well and presented with elegance. The menus had excellent variation from evening to evening. The quality of the house wines were surprisingly very nice as well. We did have to speak to management for the problems mentioned herein, and I would like to acknowledge that they were very attentive and professional.
