The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas

The Ritz Carlton in st Thomas is living off the company's reputation. While the room was clean, it was highly overpriced and completely overrated. For the price we paid, which actually was a discounted price for a wedding, it should be all inclusive. And that still wouldn't be worth it.

We just recently stayed for our school vacation week . We are family of 5 and we were coming to celebrate my son’s 13th bday! The hotel was fully occupied that week because of school vacation week for boston and New York but two main managers made sure that our stay was wonderful ; from the hotel room we got, to the surprise gifts for my son to the dining experience and overall service was superb ! I would highly recommend! Whether it’s a quick weekend trip or a family trip ; there are a lot of things to do on the property; two large pools ; Aldo one in the residencies where you can go and they have a volleyball net to the basketball hop to the tennis court and 24 hour gym Hotel is also conveniently located to the port just a few minutes away by boat which runs every hour if you want to escape for a day to St. John which has amazing beaches ! We did that for two days . Dining options are good as well , the wait time was a little bit of a problem so I would suggest making a reservation but we did go one of the most busy weeks !! Overall a great stay for my family ! Will def be back soon! Highly recommend ! Thanks to manager Joe and Marc that you made this stay very special for us !! See you all soon again !

We came to the Ritz St. Thomas expecting to have a very nice time, but our expectations were EXCEEDED! We booked 8 days to celebrate my daughter’s 30th birthday, and chose the Club Lounge. That (the food and service), in itself, was amazing, but I have to call out several of the lounge attendants for making our time so very extra special. I do not know the names 0f ALL the people who were so wonderful, but these are several of them. JJ in the Club Lounge Concierge area was diligent, attentive, friendly and paid much attention to detail. In the food area, the following were fabulous and friendly, and very attentive to all of us but especially our daughter: Ka Maiya, Ruth, Bertha, Shirley, Catherine and Rashad. A couple of these people even gave some gifts to our daughter — very thoughtful and fun. We were greeted on arrival by Vinnie, who brought us some welcome drinks. Danley at the beach was also a standout, as were Celine and Jahniel. We took the Days End Sunset Sail on the Lady Lynsey, which was gorgeous and delightful, and highly recommended. And we all got massages at the Ritz Spa: so very good! We ate our birthday dinner at Alloro, and were served delicious food by a very friendly young lady named Anubeah. By naming these team members, I do not mean to exclude anyone, as all the staff are such nice people, and so were so many of the guests themselves. Team members went out of their way to serve us and to make us feel welcome and appreciated. We don’t very often return to a place we’ve travelled to before, but we are thinking seriously about returning to this Ritz next year for another family birthday. I could not recommend this Ritz more highly. YOU MUST GO, AND PAY THE EXTRA FOR THE CLUB LOUNGE! Thank you all so much!

Good location within walking distance of the Marina Bay Area. However there is a huge construction site opposite so rather than walking along the road its easier to walk through the shopping centre. We had a room on the 19th floor overlooking Marina Bay (and the construction site) which was very spacious with plenty of storage and hanging space. Nice seating area and large bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. Plenty of space for toiletries etc. The bed was very comfortable with a choice of pillows. Overall the room looked tired and did require some maintenance and redecorating in places. Breakfast is served in the Colony restaurant. Lots of choice, both hot and cold. However it does get very busy which does make the experience overwhelming rather than relaxing. All the staff were very attentive and efficient. The Lounge area is attractive but again requires some upgrading. Nice bar area for a drink and you can order food from the lounge menu. We were not able to eat dinner in the Colony Restaurant due to it being fully booked for Chinese New Year.

I really wanted to like this hotel, but unfortunately the comments others raise are true. We needed to move rooms after the first night because there is no soundproofing between adjoining rooms. They accommodated, but this hotel should have been designed better. Staff were friendly but consistently promised things they were unable to deliver (eg bellhops never came despite multiple calls). The restaurants were consistently out of items, and substitutions made no sense (eg a California Chardonnay is not the same as an Albariño). This is the worst Ritz I have ever stayed at! It is priced like a Ritz but feels more like a Sheraton or Marriott.
