In 70 rooms and suites carefully curated antiques such as shoemaker's benches transformed into tables combine effortlessly with the latest televisions and coffee machines by Illy. Traditional "Fleckerlteppich" rugs complement the solid wood floors as well as hand-printed fabrics in pink, cornflower blue and red from the Salzburg firm Jordis. Refreshing sleep is assured in king-size and twin beds. Generously proportioned bathrooms in marble with porcelain by Villeroy & Boch offer shower or tub, or shower and tub. The view out onto Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz or Getreidegasse enchant, while soundproof windows ensure that rooms are always quiet.

The best
We stayed at 12 hotels on our most recent journey and this was our favorite. The staff made you feel like family and treated you like a rich uncle. They were attentive to all our needs and were great at anticipating what we did not know we needed. The location is in the pedestrian free zone and on the best street in Salzburg. You could not ask for more. Their restaurant was outstanding, offering a nice variety of entrees. Breakfast was also delicious. You felt at home in the cozy bar where the bartender learned your name. We could not be more happy with our stay.

Transport Yourself Into 1600s Austrian Luxury!
Coming from the young and brash USA, we have no heritages as rich in tradition or accommodation as this amazing, 600-year old hotel; and we loved every second of staying here! Our room was immaculate, beautiful, and timeless, blending modern convenience with the feel and authentic design of 1600s Austria. Just hanging out in this hotel will forever remain some of our favorite moments in Salzburg. Coffee and tea in the library were delights. Breakfast at the hotel was one of our favorite experiences in all of Europe! The staff and service were also excellent and what we imagined the kings of the olden days enjoyed. I highly encourage any traveller with an appreciation for detail and the past to journey through time and stay at this remarkable property right in the heart of old town Salzburg.

Wonderful, luxurious hotel
I cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful historic hotel located on the famous Getreidegasse in Salzburg! This was my second trip to Salzburg during the Christmas market season, and I was fortunate enough to stay here once again. The staff is always so very kind and helpful, the rooms so comfortable and inviting, and the location could not be more idea. Do yourself a favor and book this property when you visit Salzburg.

Delightful! A beautiful historical hotel in Salzburg old town.
Beautiful old hotel in the heart of Salzburg old town. Fabulous atmosphere, friendly service and high quality experience. Food was great, combination of traditional local dishes and international dishes, both in restaurant and room service. We enjoyed early check-in/out, transfer to airport was 20 mins by taxi. The suite was spacious, all great tech and incredible history throughout the building. We can’t wait to go back!

The Hotel Goldener Hirsch was such a treat- a 5 star experience in the heart of the city. The room was well appointed, service was exceptional, and food was good. We really enjoyed the Al La carte breakfast each morning, and the selection of foods offered many options. The entrance is located on a beautiful cobblestone street in the city center.
