Reviews for Hotel Goldgasse

Fantastic hotel in heart of Salzburg.

We visited this hotel in Aug 2025. It’s a wonderful hotel. The hostess, Ulrika was wonderful host. She made us feel very welcome. Offered drinks and made us at ease during the check in process. She escorted us to our rooms (which were upgraded). Minibar was free with some soft drinks and water. She also recommended places to visit and eat. The breakfast was fantastic. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Perfect hotel for your Salzburg vacation!

This place is amazing. Right in the heart of the old town and within walking distance of EVERYTHING you want to see. Its on a charming quaint little alley street. Idyllic spot above a Michelin rated restaurant. Food was excellent here. It is an SLH property so you can expect high quality accommodations and they definitely deliver. Rooms were very nice and clean and well furnished. The onsite breakfast was outstanding. Service was wonderful. Ulricke was the woman who checked us in. I think she is the manager. She is wonderful and helps you with all your needs. I would definitely come back here the next time we come back to Salzburg. Its such an amazing city! And this is the perfect hotel to stay at when enjoying this city!

Great boutique hotel in the perfect location to explore Salzburg

We felt very welcome at Hotel Goldgasse. The building is very old and characterful, with rooms that look modern and cool, decorated with splashes of bold colour and an opera theme. There is an inclusive minibar (soft drinks and Nespressos), and a glass of fizz on arrival. I was worried that Brits wouldn’t be popular after Brexit but Goldgasse (and Salzburg generally) made us feel very at home. Beds are huge with 2 x single duvets. They invite you to not have the chambermaid service any day you please saving you €10 which was good. As other reviewers have said, the manager is a big personality, which is part of the charm. They were very helpful with any questions, taxis etc. They also provide umbrellas which is a nice touch. The location is the best part. All the main attractions; Mozarts birthplace, the fortress, Dom Quartier, Catacombs etc all nearby, and being nestled in a pedestrian cobbled street was lovely. Breakfast is 7-10am and the moment you sit down someone will simply say ‘Eggs - fried, scrambled or omelette??’ at you. Rest assured you don’t have to have eggs - a platter of ham, bread, cheese, croissants, jams coffee and juice will arrive shortly after. If you plan to do the Sound of Music or Hallstatt tours (we did both) they leave from Mirabell Palace is about 15-20 mins walk away.

A wonderful stay in a great location. Greeted by Ulrike, whose warmth, humor and professionalism really set the tone for a great stay. The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Bathroom was like a mini spa with luxury amenities and a powerful rain shower head. There are soft bathrobes and slippers available which was a nice treat. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent— fresh, well prepared food and enhanced by professional, courteous and helpful wait staff. The restaurant has 2 seatings, 6pm and 8pm. Make a reservation. Breakfast was also delightful. Great selection of fresh breads, cheeses, fruit juices, coffee, and eggs made to order. Katerina brings a motherly warmth and attentiveness to the breakfast experience. It wasn’t easy to get this hotel booking. There are only 16 rooms. Plan ahead.

How do you solve a problem in Salzburg? Stay here!!!

We stayed at Hotel Golgasse in Salzburg in May 2025. If I could give this hotel a six star rating, I would. Firstly, the lady who runs the hotel is an absolute delight. Her name is Ulrike. She shows a genuine warmth and care for her guest. A check in process with Ulrike which is unrivalled anywhere we have been in the world. Welcome drinks, and a warm towel upon arrival. The rooms are beautiful and decorated with modern fixtures. Shower and bathroom very clean and soaps and shampoos are of a very high quality. The rooms smell amazing and when you return after a busy day sightseeing, it is so nice to come home to a nice smelling and serviced room. Beds comfortable. Hotel located in the old part of town and in close walking distance to the major attractions. This hotel comes with my highest of recommendations.
