Reviews for Hotel Sacher Salzburg

A+++ Amazing Hotel!!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

My family of four took a 10-day vacation through Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and France. We always stay in top hotels when we travel, and Hotel Sacher was one of our favorites ever. The service was fantastic from the front desk to room service to housekeeping to breakfast. Everyone was so sweet and helpful. The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were well appointed. There is an iPod in each room where you can order room service, and they even have a pillow menu. I have never stayed in a hotel with a pillow menu. Among the pillow options were a cool pillow, wellness pillow, face pillow, ladies pillow, men’s pillow, non-allergy pillow, neck-supporting pillow, horse hair pillow, and vein pillow. We all chose our preferred pillow (I chose two) and they were promptly brought to us. The location of the hotel was perfect - right in the heart near the Old Town. The hotel concierge was super helpful and set up a few excursions for us, like the Sound of Music walking tour, Mozart concert tickets, and driving excursions to Halstatt and Neuschwanstein castle. Our 27 and 21 year-old daughters loved this hotel so much, they said they want to go back to Austria just to stay there. They keep talking about the “Sacher life,” lol. The food was great too, whether in the restaurant or from room service. We have nothing but the highest praise for this wonderful hotel! We hope to visit again one day!

Beautiful hotel with impeccable service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is an undeniably beautiful hotel, in THE perfect location for exploring Salzburg….but what makes this hotel is its staff. Never have I encountered such a genuinely warm and friendly welcome in any hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Sami on the front desk was absolutely charming. Not only did he give us a personal tour of the hotel on our arrival, but also recommended restaurants and cafes, shops and sights….He really went above and beyond to ensure we would have the perfect stay- which we absolutely did! Our junior suite- room 102- was so beautiful and comfortable, with a charming balcony facing the river with stunning views. We had dinner one evening at the Sacher Grill which was completely fabulous - I have written a separate review for this, but suffice to say, their famous Wiener Schnitzel totally lives up to the hype! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough- it really is just fantastic in every way-and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Just to reiterate- the staff are ALL amazing and go out of their way to ensure your stay is perfect. Final shout out to Annika (sorry that’s probably the wrong spelling?) on the front desk who dealt with our check out and was just so sunny and friendly and was so genuinely thrilled to hear how happy we were with our stay. I’m home now, but I’m still smiling about my time in beautiful Salzburg, and will recommend Hotel Sacher to anyone who will listen!

A Wonderful trip to Salzburg

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

What a beautiful hotel this is. I was lucky enough to visit with my son, daughter in law and her mum. From the minute we arrived the hotel staff made us so very welcome. My suite was out of this world I have never stayed anywhere so fabulous and comfortable. The view across to the old town was gorgeous. Each morning I would listen to the bells ringing , it reminded me of the Sound of Music. Breakfast was perfect and we were spoiled by the lovely Ursula each morning. She is so efficient and kind , each morning she remembered what we had to eat and drink. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Salzburg it is truly magical in every way.

A very nice place to stay in Salzburg

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This is just what you would expect of a traditional old style Austrian hotel. It was very well located and right along the river. The public areas were lovely. Our rooms were not large but there was place for all of our stuff in our king sized room. Lots of drawers and shelves. There was a desk, chair, sofa along the end of the bed and nightstands with plugs. My brother’s room was slightly smaller so no desk. We had a lovely river view. At check in they tried to upsell each of our party to a suite. The room did feel a little crowded with all of the furniture. The bathroom had 2 sinks and a shower that could have been a little bigger. Breakfast was an excellent buffet and items that you could order off of a menu. They even made one in our party gluten free pancakes and they had very good gluten free bread. Service was friendly and efficient. My only complaint was that the rooms were warm. I guess they had turned off the air conditioning and we needed to keep the window open to manage the heat. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Disappointing stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

So the big question would I stay there again?? absolutely not!!! We have stayed in many places that are five star rated that I would LOVE to return this is not one of them. The hotel itself is not one that would itself be a destination. Having stayed in hotels where the property itself is worthy of visiting where if you could not leave the property you would be happy and think you had a great time this is not one of them. . The location and surrounding areas are not desirable to return to either. The room was well appointed yes it’s as pictured on their website. The bed was comfortable enough pillows were OK not great. It was clean. It is located on a very very busy street. Nothing particularly great about the location. We did have a room on a higher floor with a balcony, that looked out across the river at the old town area of Salzburg. To be honest there’s not anything great about looking out at that. It’s not particularly pretty. You’re looking at basically a sheared off hillside with some buildings at the top and at night a few neon lights. The hotel does not have much of a lobby to hang out in places outside of your room. Much of the hotel is built around a very large staircase. The hotel is next to the foot bridge to go across to the old town. Historic area is small. Basically Salzburg, if you have not been there, it’s just a big huge dirty city with this tiny little historic area in it. I have to admit it wasn’t what I expected. I thought it would be quaint I knew the old town would be small but I did not expect it to be in a big dirty city. There were several places we visited on this trip that were small quaint towns with nice historic areas disappointingly Salzburg is not like that . There are many beautiful scenic places in Austria to stay. Salzburg is more of a place to make an afternoon day trip out of while you’re staying in some beautiful location elsewhere . When we arrived, it was about time for dinner we were going to eat in the one little bistro in the hotel we walked into it. It had a really bad funky smell. I mean really bad. Not sure what that was about. We turned around and left. We went over the Foot bridge to find a restaurant in the old town area, I think in our travels which were for several weeks this was the only place we walked around and where it did not feel quite as safe to walk around in the evening. The hotel staff were accommodating enough no one was rude or anything like that, but one would expect that to be the case. We ended up having to change our travels and leave earlier than we had thought which in hindsight I realize was a blessing. If I had to stay in Salzburg itself again I would stay within the historic area at least perhaps there’s something quaint to walk to right outside your hotel room. I would not stay in a hotel that is just a building on a very very busy street again so while it was OK, it just didn’t have anything particularly special to offer either in location or in the actual property. In comparison staying in Vienna was absolutely beautiful to stay snd walk around. I would save my big city experience for there. Another minor thing the hotel room key is this big huge thing quite irritating to try to carry with you. I usually slip my hotel room key into my wallet you’re not doing that with this key. We did have a car and they do have valet parking. Thank goodness because there’s just a tiny little pull up for you to get out at and hope not to get hit by cars as you exit your car. The parking is rather expensive. I believe it’s maybe €65 , they should really just make it complementary might make you feel better about having to pull up in all of that traffic on this tiny little curb area.
