Reviews for Andaz San Diego

Small Rooms...Good Elite Breakfast

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We stayed for one night recently at the Andaz San Diego. The room was nice but small. As stated in many reviews the overall room layout and the strange curtain were very awkward. The bed was comfortable. We had planned to use the pool but it seemed to be closed for a private party... The hotel provided ear plugs and a note about noise from the neighborhood...shown in pic. The best part of our stay was the breakfast and service. Jesse at the rooftop restaurant was "Brand Ambassador" in addition to being a top-notch waiter. The valet was extremely slow...unfortunate for the cost. We stayed at four other Hyatt properties on this trip and while the Andaz was not a "bad" property it was our least favorite of the trip. I didn't see the other reviews here on TA before it was too late for me to cancel or I would have changed to one of the other properties.

Standout Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I hardly write reviews but thought it is imperative to boast about how fantastic of a stay I had at the Andaz San Diego. From the exceptional customer service to the gorgeous rooftop restaurant and view, I can't help but to look forward to my return. The bedroom was pleasantly designed and beds quite comfortable. I ventured off and walked to many shops within a short walking distance. This was easily my best hotel experience in SD.

Lovely Stay

Was in town for concert at Rady Shell. Perfect location! About a 15 minute walk to venue or quick uber ride. Right in the heart of Gaslamp. Clean room! And Chris at the front desk was exceptional! Rooftop pool and bar/lounge area is great for happy hour.

Hotel room smelled like kitty litter and the rest of the hotel smelled funky as well

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I really like Hyatt hotels and have never had a poor experience until visiting this one. The only positive of the hotel is the location, you are in the Gaslamp district and are within walking distance of everything. The cons...this hotel needs to revisit their cleaning protocol, my room literally smelled like kitty litter. Honestly the entire hotel smelled funky and their method of covering it up with bleach was not helping. I did ask Guest Services to investigate the smell but their fix was bleach poured into my shower. I realize this hotel is pet friendly, however I have stayed in other pet friendly hotels and never had to deal with such a funk.
