My wife and I were told about the Proper hotel by a friend, so we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and booked a room at the hotel. We arrived and in checking in were immediately offered a glass of Champagne, then we were told our room was upgraded. This was very unexpected and very gracious of the Hotel to do this. Everyone on staff we helpful and very friendly-We had a very cool time visiting the rooftop bar- great views and an awesome vibe. Our stay was truly fantastic- room was amazing, and total experience was the best.

Terrific Property - I have stayed at the SF Proper several times and have enjoyed every stay. The welcoming glass of bubbly is always appreciated & celebratory after traveling. The cream, white & black rooms are maximalist designed and very thoughtful. Even if that is not your design aesthetic, it is a fun change. My favorite in-room amenity is the clothes steamer - I enjoyed using it so much that I later bought one for my house. The bath products are luxurious, the linens are top notch, and the honor bar is filled with anything you might crave - one of the best. But the room service breakfast (I order the Proper Breakfast or Buttermilk waffle) is the real treat. You won't be sorry if you order room service or eat in any of the restaurants. And checkout the rooftop bar. I am a big fan of this place & highly recommend it.

Charming, tastefully decorated, comfortable, clean hotel with excellent staff. The only negative is the $36 per night mandatory “destination amenity fee” which is charged whether or not these amenities are available or delivered. When I questioned the hotel about the unavailability of the “local ride amenity” and the fact the some of the amenities (like free WiFi) overlap with Bonvoy Elite benefits, the hotel replied, “Regrettably, the destination fee is a mandatory aspect of our policy. While we operate independently under the Design Hotels umbrella, we are proud participants in the Marriott Bonvoy program, offering limited benefits to Marriott Elite members.” While I would stay here again, i would first look at comparable hotels that do not add mandatory nightly amenity fees. This is just my personal preference.

Booked the hotel because of a recommendation from a friend. We were looking for a hotel with a great rooftop ambience with excellent service, and this did not disappoint. Wemerson was behind the bar as our mixologist and bartender extraordinaire and single handily made our evening incredible. Lots of great recommendations, conversation, and service is why I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great evening in San Fran with a view. The entire staff did a tremendous job, the drinks were on point, and the food was on the money.

What a stay! Extraordinary in every way. Great architecture and history. Interior design in the lobby, restaurants and rooms was stunning. Service exceptional. Rooftop bar - fun and exciting. First time there and will always return on my many trips to the City.
