Un taj hotel in SFO

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Taj ness is missing in this hotel completely ! This does not even look taj to me ..despite being in touch with 3 people much before arrival ,no one bothered to meet .no one greeted ..being taj platinum member I was expecting better reception & welcome at hotel but to my surprise all 3 days of my stay no one bothered to even talk forget welcome ..no one spoke about hotel ,about city ! That warmth & personalisation which you enjoy in taj was completely missing ! Probably worst taj I have ever visited & worst hotel which I visited during my stay in US ..giving one star more only because of taste of food ..

Absolutely fab!! It’s ‘Taj ‘eventually and u cannot get wrong

This is what hospitality is all about . Never felt like away from India , stay was so good and so welcoming that this space shall be less to describe. This hotel might not be having a huge bar or pub or a club ; but who needs that !! Coming from best chains on west coast , I never thought that this place would be such a gem in the town. Others should learn what hospitality in Taj is ; rather it should be a training lesson for all the chains , which sound big on money and less on services . Gursharn and John were absolute rock stars at the desk , others including Roy , Soraya and sorry if I might be missing out on names, were always proactive in accommodating our requests . This felt like so in home town. Butter chicken and lentils ( daal) were absolutely fab !! It will be a place which I will continue to revisit and stay with family again and again .

Heartwarming hospitality - Felt welcome and at home. Excellent staff. The suite we stayed in was thoughtfully laid out. Amenities were all well placed and carefully chosen. Housekeeping was outstanding. The highest level of personalisation was very touching. We had a truly memorable stay. ' Tajness ' at it's best ...!!!

Amazing Service & Value

I had a fantastic 1-night stay from the minute I checked-in! Check-in was fast and the receptionist was very friendly & professional. He noticed it was my birthday and had a dessert sent to my room which was above & beyond service. I booked through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and received a free upgrade. The room was spacious and the toiletries and sheets were luxurious and comfortable. I also received breakfast & a $100 food credit which had to be used for room-service since their restaurant was closed. The breakfast was pretty standard but I’d recommend the Indian food, particularly the delicious prawn curry!! Would highly recommend staying here for the reasonable price & excellent service!!

Heavenly Understated Quiet Luxury

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Heavenly stay at the Taj Campton Place. After staying at many of the best hotels in San Francisco, this hotel is my new favorite. It hits the right balance of value and luxury. You can pay much more and not be as pleased as with the Taj. This is definitely quiet luxury, which I prefer. While right off of Union Square, the hotel is perfectly located. I also love Chinatown, which is a few block away. The lobby is elegant discreet and quiet. This won’t be the busy train station lobbies of some of the other more institutional large luxury hotels. Gursharn at the front desk was so helpful accommodating and welcoming. Anyone who has stayed at Taj hotels in India will know what to expect. I enjoyed talking about my stays in India. The staff overall is discreet and helpful. The doorman also explained all the parking options. This was really appreciated. The food for lunch was delicious. The curry was perfectly spicy and the passion fruit panna cotta was delicious - worth coming back for. I would also suggest ordering breakfast as early as possible as it did take a long time - like an hour and a half and I’m still waiting as I write this - as the restaurants were closed for renovation. I would guess this problem works itself out when the restaurants reopen next month. We had three rooms and they were all huge with tons of light - a rarity in San Francisco. They were immaculately clean and the bathrooms were enormous. My only suggestion might be a larger televisions. The rooms are so big, the screen seemed small from the bed. Also, the shower doesn’t have a door. It worked fine for me but I wonder if it’s a lot of work for the cleaning staff. The rooms were very quiet and the bed was so comfortable. Overall, I look forward to returning to the Taj when I come back to SF from Hawaii. If you like understated discreet quiet luxury, this is the hotel for you! R. Heater
