Hotel El Convento

The food, drinks and service with Indira in the restaurant for Sunday brunch was amazing. It was truly service with a smile!

A stunning hotel set in a restored convent, offering elegant rooms and charming open-air courtyards. Service is professional and the location in Old San Juan is unbeatable.

The hotel has charm and a nice wine and cheese hour. It is in a convenient location. The robes are soft, and the slippers are large enough for men. However, we had several issues. The sleep quality is bad due to the AC. It is very loud so if you have it set on a particular temperature, the loud fan will wake you every time it starts. The fan also had one setting - low, medium and high were all the same. We notified reception and was told nothing could be done about it. We were given one wash cloth for two people. We wanted to make coffee in the room, but the water container had black particles in it. After rinsing it a half dozen times, the black particles remained. We took it to reception and was told it was coffee grounds. How would coffee grounds get in a water container of a nespresso-type machine? We were told we could use a credit that we had at the sister hotel. When the check arrived at the sister hotel, we were told that we could not use the credit there.

Great hotel. Beautiful inside and out. Location in Old San Juan is perfect. All the employees provide excellent service. But there was one that went above and beyond every day. That was Luciano Huguet, a stellar bell attendant in the hotel. Not only did he perform his regular duties of assisting with luggage and taxi needs very well, but he went beyond whenever we had questions. His suggestions for restaurants and bars were spot on covering all three meals and evenings out each day. He is extremely polite and knowledgeable plus handles the busy times in the lobby with the ease of a multitasking pro. Made our visit very enjoyable!

My team and I stayed at El Convento for our company offsite and we had a total of 23 people in our group. The El Convento team was extremely accommodating and pleasant to work with, making our stay there very positive. The rooms were clean and luxurious and had AC for the hot weather. The hotel is also a prime location in Old San Juan and everything surrounding was walking distance. We also rented their conference rooms for business sessions and everything went smoothly because of their service, including A/V set up, breakfast and lunch service. Would highly recommend staying here for personal stay or large group business travel!
