Disappointed in the El Convento, where I have stayed previously when visiting San Juan. Booked a Queen Vista room for over $500 a night, and the room was small for two people. We arrived 5 minutes early for our 7:30 PM restaurant reservation, the maitre’d told us our table would be ready shortly, and that he would come get us while we waited in the courtyard. At 7:45 I went back and asked him when we would be seated. He looked at me like he didn’t know who I was, and asked if my party was here. I pointed out that my wife and I had been there for 20 minutes. We were seated about 10 minutes later. The food was just average. People were complaining about the fish, which we avoided as a result. The topper was the next morning when we wanted to check out, the lone elevator was broken and, being on the top floor, we would need a bellman to get our bags. I called twice over a 30 minute period for a bellman, was told both times that one was on the way, only no one ever came. I had to lug our bags down five flights of stairs. I complained to Mira at the front desk, and she could not have possibly cared less, nor did she offer any gesture of compensation for the inconvenience. For these prices, guests deserve much better, but the staff at the El Convento are just going through the motions.

We spent one night in El Convento and wished it had been more. It is located in the heart of Old San Juan and is a wonderfully restored old convent. The interior is beautiful and the open atrium hold the bar and the Patio restaurant. We had dinner and breakfast at the Patio and both were outstanding - and good value. The lobster risotto had a whole lobster tail and it was really good and reasonable priced. We had an issue with our room and the manager made it right quickly. I would recomment El Convento and hope to stay there again.

We had a wonderful experience staying at beautiful Hotel Convento. It offered numerous gathering options that were within the interior space but open air. While feeling open, each area required key access, providing good security. The location of Old San Juan was right in the center of town, making it very convenient to historic sites, shops and dining. We enjoyed some meals at the hotel, and while staff were incredibly attentive there, we especially appreciated Juan L. who was attentive to every request made, going above our expectations.

The hotel is absolutely lovely with gorgeous and inviting shared spaces. Our room was furnished with basic furnishings and the bathroom was small and without much to discuss. The breakfast was tasty and served by top tier waiter Juan L and then Indira on the final morning of our stay. One evening we had a drink from the bar and my Pinot Noir Rose was tasty. The bar personnel were very busy!

We couldn't have been more pleased with our business meeting held at Hotel El Convento during a three-day period in mid-February! As the meeting planner, I was so impressed with the knowledge, professionalism, helpfulness, responsiveness, and kindness shown by the entire staff - including the sales team, the meeting/banquet team, the front desk/reception staff, the housekeeping crew, and more. The meeting and sleeping rooms were clean and beautiful, the food was excellent, and the location can't be beat. There were several weddings going on while we were there, and that added a lovely, festive spirit to our stay. I highly recommend Hotel El Convento for any small- to medium-sized business meeting or corporate event.
