The Royal Sonesta San Juan

Everything about this hotel and the location was just what I had hoped for. The hotel is big without being oversized. The location, right on the beach is just wonderful and the beach is good too, with beautiful walkable sand, no rocks, shells or other things to hurt your feet. The location is good for local restaurants, too, and we walked to places for dinner every night. The room, a junior suite, was spacious with a king bed, a big couch, and a view of the hills and Isla Verde. Great from the 10th floor! The bedding is delicious, the bathroom had double sinks and a big walk in shower. good towels, too. Quiet. We paid in advance for the breakfast buffet. Expensive, but I wasn't about to scout out breakfast in the area. Good choices and an omelet station. The grounds and the pool and pool bar get an A+ the Staff is wonderful as well. If there was one thing that bothered me it was the lack of hooks and towel bars in the bathroom for all the wet bathing suits and that there is not much accommodation for clothes, either in the closet or drawers. Otherwise A+ for the stay. Go there. You'll be happy.

Husband came here for a work convention. We had a great time at the resort and especially the pool. The hotel was clean and easy to navigate . Loved the gym it was well equipped and clean. Staff were warm and accommodating. Shout out to housekeeping Hilton Donaire he made our kids towel animals. Rooms were clean and comfortable for our family.

The Royal Sonesta was NOT 4 star value. The noise in this hotel was so loud, it was impossible to rest in your room during the day. The breakfast buffet was $40 PER PERSON PER DAY, when I thought it was included. The pool did not have enough shaded seating, and the serve staff served me alcohol when I explicitly requested a non-alcoholic drink (twice) which is not safe and needs to be investigated. Overall this hotel is not worth the money and I would recommend staying anywhere else for the price.

We had a great time at the Royal Sonesta this week. The pool and the beach were beautiful and my kids (12 and 15) really enjoyed their time there. It was very easy to order food and drinks there which made our time really enjoyable. We were always able to find chairs and towels at the pool and at the beach. Although most days we were there were red flag days, our time at the beach was really enjoyable. The room was what I expected and the ocean view was beautiful. When we needed towels, the front desk was quick to deliver. We got 2 waters in our room each day which was nice. I wish there was a clothesline in the bathroom to dry bathing suits, like other hotels have, as it was hard to find space to hang our wet clothes. We had a late flight and the hotel took our luggage for the day after we checked out and we still had full access of the pool and beach that day which was nice. The only downside was that my daughter got stuck in one of the bathroom stalls at the pool restroom and it was a full door so she couldn't get out without someone coming to unjam the door. It was very scary for her and staff acted like it was no big deal. I guess in the grand scheme of things it wasn't, but very upsetting and scary to a child.
