Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, a Santa Fe luxury hotel celebrating the spirit of the Southwest, offers guests an elegant modern take on pueblo life. An intimate world-class retreat, Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi celebrates the enduring creative spirit of the region’s early Native Americans and the rich heritage of city’s Spanish founders. The name and interiors of the boutique hotel pay homage to the area’s indigenous Anasazi tribe, while the handcrafted textiles, paintings, carvings and weavings that make up the hotel’s extensive art collection are a vivid representation of the Native, Hispanic and Anglo influences that created Santa Fe, one of America’s oldest and most beautiful cities.

We have now had two disappointing stays at this hotel. It certainly did not meet our expectations for a luxury hotel. The bar is quite small and was full two evenings. When we asked an assistant manager at the front desk if he could suggest nearby alternatives for happy hour his reply was "Why would I do that?" When parking our vehicle, valet was often absent, and the doorman made no effort to walk the few steps to the curb to take our keys. The rooms are well appointed, and housekeeping was helpful, friendly, and efficient. We visit Santa Fe often and have stayed at La Fonda, Inn on the Alameda, Eldorado, and Inn at Spoleto, the St. Francis, and even the Drury Inn (if we are just there overnight with our dog while in transit to somewhere else). We also frequent luxury hotels in New York, DC, London, Rome and Athens. Based upon our experiences with the staff and facilities at those hotels and our experiences at the Inn at the Anasazi, the other Santa Fe hotels offer reasonable alternatives without having to pay the hefty price. We expected much better from a Rosewood property.

My husband and I stayed here four nights during December. The staff was always friendly and helpful. There is a car that will drive you within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. The hotel is right off of the main plaza of Santa Fe so it is walking distance to most restaurants and sightseeing. There are two rooms on the entrance floor that are nice seating areas with lovely fireplaces and decor. Breakfast was included with our room rate and it is ordered off of a menu. The food was ok. Our king sized bed room was nicely decorated, had a very nice gas fire place with two arm chairs, as well as a desk, some drawers, a mini fridge and a tray of complimentary snacks and nightly cookies. The room was not huge but it was roomy enough. There is a nice sized closet and safe. The towels and linens were nice, there were outlets on both sides of the bed. Lighting was fine. The bathroom was not large but it did have 2 sinks and some room on the vanity and a shelf for items as well as a nice Dyson hairdryer. The shower was nice sized with a one head adjustable shower head. Turn down service was provided. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at The Inn of the Anasazi and overall it was pleasant, but didn’t quite live up to the price tag. The bathrooms felt a bit dated — there was no fan, some of the grout and paint were peeling or pulling away, and the toilet lid lacked a soft-close feature, so it would slam shut unexpectedly. These little things made it feel less “luxury” than I expected. On the food front, I felt the prices were high for what was offered. At those rates, I was hoping for something more distinctive or creative. On the plus side, the valet team was wonderful — quick, professional, and helpful. In sum: it wasn’t a bad stay by any means, but it didn’t quite leave a lasting impression. Especially after coming from Bishop’s Lodge, it felt a little underwhelming in comparison.

Belinda and I decided on a quiet dinner at the Inn of the Anasazi Bar the evening of Tuesday, August 12th. We were treated to terrific food superbly prepared by Chef Christian Pontiggia and his kitchen team, coupled with top-shelf service by Jarrod and Ulises manning the bar. A delightful evening out all around.

Great hotel and bar. Cheerful greetings at the door. They have the best staff -all are very friendly and welcoming. We love sitting at the bar chatting with friends and our favorite bartender Ulises. He makes great drinks and like watching him “in action”. Go in and see what we mean😉
