I've stayed at the Mandarin a few times now and all of my experiences have been excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are impecable and the amenities are first class. We hold events there regularly and their event and kitchen staff are accommodating, flexible, friendly and extremely professional. You can't go wrong.

I travel quite a bit and research travel daily. Having said that, I have just returned from a week's stay at Mandarin Oriental Santiago which exceeded my expectations. The hotel and its expansive grounds are in a perfect location with easy access to many sights and activities. My deluxe king room with view of the Andes was attractive, clean, and comfortable. The restaurants are terrific, and breakfast was a spectacular display of delicious food. But what really sets this hotel apart is its employees. From the manager to the doormen to the room attendants... the entire staff was friendly, service oriented, knowledgeable, and unobtrusive. I highly recommend the Mandarin Oriental Santiago.

So far off the mark it would take hours to write it all down. This is barely a 4 star hotel. Terrible service, terrible rooms, our room was so dusty I wrote on the furniture with my finger and it was still there the following day after it was “cleaned”. Empty soap dispenser in the showers that did not get re filled. The rooms are old and tired. We were so shocked at how low the standard of the building is, our hearts sank when we first saw the room. We sat outside by the terrace to have a drink and we did not get served, even after going inside to ask. We left. Then tried again the following day and the same thing happened and we ended up getting a takeaway coffee in a paper cup and taking it to the terrace to drink. I could go on but I won’t. Compared to the luxury and attentive service at other Mandarin Oriental hotels, this does not rate at all. We were so very very disappointed and won’t be going back.

It was a unique experience staying at the Mandarin. Looking forward to coming back with my family. Thank you for the kindness.

I had checked-in having reserved a suite, expecting to have a blissful 5 star experience but I was forced to have my vacation ruined by the dirty couch in the room, the broken toilet sprinkler, the leaky / noisy AC and the shower which had broken temperature controls and a mouldy hand-held shower head. If this wasn't enough to completely ruin my stay, my spa appointment hadn't been changed after I informed the reception to due so and I had to chase staff to confirm the new appointment. I don't understand why the guest services don't appreciate that I am paying for this awful, dirty room and am even willing to give the hotel more money in the form of a spa appointment. Clearly, I should be treated as a valued customer and not a room inspector. I was not offered anything complementary or any formal apology whatsoever.
