In the center of Santo Domingo's Zona Colonial, history, modernity and luxury come together as one at Billini Hotel. The building was once a guesthouse for members of the Dominican monastery and Sisters of Mercy convent during the 16th century. Today it stands as a beautifully restored architectural gem bridging the city’s Spanish Colonial past and cosmopolitan present, transformed into a boutique hotel with state-of-the-art comfort, just steps from vibrant shops, restaurants, clubs and Playa Montesinos.

It's going to be difficult to make a review! When you confirm a reservation after verbal commitment, they don't reply! As per previous comments, the administration is useless. Fortunately DR offers alternatives. So don't worry and select an international managed hotel!

This was my first time staying in Dominican Republic and it will not be my last! The hotel is located in a great area called Zona Colonial. It’s where a lot of great restaurants and shops are located. The front staff were very welcoming and explained the nearby restaurants in case I didn’t want to eat at the bar. My room was very spacious, clean and they even offered laundry service. Overall I will rebook for this hotel.

Booked through Hotwire and was given a tiny room on the first floor, I complained and they gave us a larger room still on the first floor. We would have preferred a higher floor. It had a slight damp smell but not too bad and we were comfortable there. The mini fridge was nicely stocked with beer, sparkling wine, juice, bottled water, and a pizza-type thing. It was free but only water was refilled after check-in day. Hotwire bookings don't come with breakfast, only coffee and a croissant. Paying for breakfast would have cost $25 extra and it did not look worth it unless you drank a lot of the sparkling wine. The rooftop pool was nice and refreshing after a hot day of walking around the colonial zone. It looked like they were setting up to show a movie up there in the evening. I appreciated that the front desk spoke English since my Spanish-speaking partner was tired of translating for me. Overall it had a nice upscale feel and we were happy there.

Stayed for 2 night having booked a room with a view, was offered a ground floor room whose window view was of 3 people right outside at a table. The lights did not work and the room smelled of damp so insisted on being moved. Then got a room with a patio view, still smelled of damp but turned out to be extremely noisy as people partied in the courtyard. Minimalistic breakfasts also in the same busy courtyard, which if you are there at weekends mean people are rushing in and out through the restaurant area setting up weddings et al. On a positive side it is a good location to explore the old town and the bar on the roof is good for an evening cocktail.

These guys charge you for one thing and give you another! They don't show up for what you paid for. Heads up! Most of the time people are afraid to review honestly. These guys don't honor what you pay.
