Embracing a legacy of rich history dating back to the 15th century, Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando Hotel is located on the first paved road of the New World, Calle Las Damas, in the heart of Santo Domingo’s historic Zona Colonial, designated a UNESCO Heritage Site. Comprising three stone houses and courtyards built in 1502, the historic building was the very first to be built on the country’s colonial land and the home of the town’s founder and first Spanish governor of the Americas, Nicolas de Ovando, and his companion Christopher Columbus.

Our experience at the restaurant was outstanding! We were greeted by our waitress, Evelyn, who was extremely attentive and mindful of every detail. She provided prompt, professional service and genuinely cared about our family’s experience. The food presentation exceeded our expectations, and everything was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be returning for another visit.

Beautiful hotel in the Zona. Attentive and kind staff. Breakfast was special. The courtyard is a lovely spit to gather together.

Hotel Hodelpa Nicolás de Ovando is a gem in Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone. We spent 8 amazing days at this 5-star hotel which is housed in a beautifully restored 16th-century building, blending Spanish colonial architecture with modern amenities. The location is unbeatable - just a short walk from historic sites, museums, and lively plazas. The hotel's outdoor pool area is the highlight, resembling a botanical garden with views of the Ozama River. Every morning we enjoyed their delicious breakfast buffet and attentive service from their friendly staff. Our room was very comfortable, clean, and rich in history, with it offering scenic views of Calle de las Damas and daily visits from individuals celebrating special occasions and doing photoshoots in the recreational area below our window. It was definitely a pleasure to people watch daily. The hotel's central location and historic charm make it a standout choice. Plus, the staff goes above and beyond to ensure comfort and satisfaction with special mention going out to the following staff members, tour guides and transfer personnel: Hermes - Reception at the Front desk who was very instrumental in making our stay very memorable. Feleis and Edwin - Bellhops Nestor - Bartender Virgilio, Brilinda, Cindy and Natanael - Servers at breakfast and dinner Mercedes - Housekeeping Ana - Spa Alexander Pineda and Yanke - Tour Guides Castro - Transfer to and from the airport Their amenities included: Outdoor Pool with scenic views Fitness Center and spa services Restaurant serving Dominican cuisine Bar and lounge area Business Center and meeting facilities Free Wi-Fi and parking Overall, Hotel Hodelpa Nicolás de Ovando is a must-visit for anyone exploring Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone.
